“Very peaceful and lovely ”

Naturescaping Wildlife Botanic Gardens
Reviewed 28 June 2018 via mobile

For a place that’s free and ran by volunteers, I was impressed. It’s lovely. I seen many flowers, birds, butterflies, etc and enjoyed it very much. Mostly hard packed soil and gravel so a little challenging in a wheelchair but still very do-able!

Will return when spring arrives. Gardens appear to be very nice and definitely educational. Attended indoor class on planting perennials by seed.

Some friends told me about this place. It's free and completely staffed by volunteers. It's a great place for walks in a farming community, away from the city bustle but close enough for a short drive from Vancouver, WA. It's a series of demonstration gardens providing ideas on how to combine different trees, shrubs, and flowers for attracting wildlife. While I was here, I saw hummingbirds, butterflies, quail, and finches. I also heard many other types of birds singing in the shelter of the trees. The gravel trails through the gardens total about a mile if you walk all of them. Parking is plentiful.

I often visit this peaceful collection of demonstration gardens, not only to glean ideas but to observe the birds and just relax. Each demo garden is designed towards a different garden style yet still provide for local birds, bees, butterflies. The paths are either wood-chip or gravel and can accommodate wheelchairs. Do wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a camera or use your phone camera to collect garden ideas. This place offers interest year round as the garden changes with the seasons. It is an educational garden and good for old and young, couples, families, or solo visits. It's wonderful that it is free admission - other places might charge. If you enjoy gardening I highly recommend this place. Parking available at CASEE center adjacent to gardens.
Information from the website: "The Wildlife Botanical Gardens are a cohesive blend of specialty theme gardens, spread over three acres in Southwest Washington. The gardens, and devoted gardeners, demonstrate and teach gardening concepts that attract birds, butterflies, hummingbirds and other wildlife to residential gardens. Come visit the Wildlife Botanical Gardens year-round and enjoy the unique beauty each season has to offer!

Enjoy strolling through the pathways of nine theme gardens and get ideas for your own home garden. Many plants are identified - look for labels at the base of large shrubs or trees, and in front of many smaller plants. The gardens are open daily, year-round dawn to dusk, for self-guided tours. There is no admission fee."
