Our family checked in with a reservation for adjoining rooms. The first pair of rooms had hair on the pillows and bedspread as well as on the bathroom floors and tubs in both rooms. One of the rooms was missing a remote for the tv, and there was a dried substance on the desktop. When we complained they placed us in another pair of rooms in which there was hair once again on the bathroom floor and this time the ceiling paint was peeling. When we ate breakfast at the buffet the next morning, a piece of plastic was found in our daughter's juice glass. Grateful she found it before she choked on it! Will not be staying there again.

This was our Second visit to this hotel. The last visit we were upgraded to a Junior suite. We are a platinum member.

We were not upgraded on this trip and the room was significantly different from our last stay. We were put on the concierge floor, and the rooms look like the quality of a courtyard.

We complained to the front desk, there was supposed to be foam pillows and extra towels. They confirmed this at check-in and it was not in our room. We asked to be upgraded and they said there was no other rooms available.

The front desk explained to us that our room was actually an upgrade as we were on the concierge floor. We are platinum members we expect to be upgraded to the concierge floor or have access. It doesn't really matter whether we are on the concierge floor or not.

We went back-and-forth with the front desk and we were not satisfied. They didn't even offer us anything in return for our dissatisfaction.

We went to go visit the concierge room. It was supposed to be open till 10 PM. When we got there the person was closing down the food and beverages. It was 9:30 PM. Needless to say, this is not what we've been accustomed to experiencing and this was certainly not an upgrade.

All in all a very disappointing trip. And we are likely going to stay at another Marriott property or Starwood property in the area.

We like to stay here whenever we're planning to eat at the Tower Club (see my review of same), because it's right across the street. The hotel itself is very nice, as you would expect from a Marriott. I do wish they would continue to provide the ability to recycle items in your room. They used to have a recycling bin in each room, but they stopped having that, even though their description of the rooms still says it exists. The room is a nice size and nicely maintained, though nothing to cause you to really remember it over other places of an equal level. But it's nice to be able to count on the consistency. It may not be quite up to the level of other Marriotts, but it still suits us. Since my husband is a gold member of Marriott Rewards, we can eat in the Concierge Room. They have hot and cold hors d'oeuvres in the evenings (which could be a meal if you felt like it), breakfast in the morning, and drinks any time. The alcoholic beverages are at a reasonable rate; you can pour your own and leave a signed ticket on the honor system. The rest of the offerings are complimentary. The hotel staff is very helpful, and there's a shuttle bus to take you to the metro stop or the mall (or anywhere within a 2 mile radius). We will stay here again in the future.

Room Tip: Upper floors, away from the elevators

Although I didn't get to explore the surrounding area, this hotel is adjacent to the Tyson's Corner mall and a lot of businesses. This hotel is typical of the Marriott chain -- clean, quiet, friendly and capable staff. The only disappointment was the relative lack of dining options at the hotel. Like all hotels in the DC area - - it is overpriced, but that's what the market will bear, I guess.
