All important details are on a high level. Friendly staff, great management, perfect clean, beatifull garden & top food. This family owned hotel is located out of the center in a piecefull surrounding directly near the sea.
Don‘t expect white sand beaches in Cadaques!

Pulling up to the hotel, you can see how beautiful the property is. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk to the center of town where most of the restaurants and beaches are located. My husband and I stayed for a short visit but WOW, we LOVED Cadaques and this area. It was our first time in Spain and upon check in, the concierge, Carmen, was easy to talk to and helped us understand the area including a cliff walk. She spoke many different languages and was able to communicate with us in English perfectly. She even called a boat rental and a taxi for us as our international phone plan was not working.

The property of the hotel is beautiful, the pool is clean and there were plenty of lounges. The breakfast included in the stay was delicious and pleased us. The property was quiet too, with upscale beverages at the bar and restaurant for a fee. Towel exchanges and ice were easy to come by. The rooms did not get very cold but cool enough to be comfortable. Overall, we truly loved this hotel and this area and are DEFINITELY coming back here again within the next few years!

We would love to see the hotel add a bike rental option to the stay as we'd like to pedal into town instead of always walking. Just a thought :)

We both really wanted to love this place. We spent £555 on a room for 5 nights stay (I’m writing this review sat around the pool as I wanted it to be true and in the moment).

We checked in early which was a relief as we’d travelled 3 hours plus via car early hours in the morning. The receptionist was friendly and spoke English which was helpful.

We went to our room over looking the carpark (for £111 a night) that was a little
unexpected but we were exhausted.

The room is basic. A double bed made of two singles pushed together, the most uncomfortable pillows, the decor was a little dated, however, it is clean. Nice bathroom with complimentary toiletries but that is it! If you need a kettle, glass glasses, working tv channels and pretty decor....you will be disappointed. Not to mention, as previously written in other reviews the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything, people having sex next door, other rooms toilet flushes and showers and the thud thud thud of suitcases and the cleaners carts going up and down the tiles in the hallway.

One morning we heard a child screaming and crying, banging doors from 5:30 am to 9am. Which surprised us very much as the hotel was advertised as NOT accommodating children on booking.com. We thought we’d approach reception with our concerns and highlight our lack of sleep. We don’t complain easily!! Their response ‘yes we heard them, they’ve checked out now’. No sincere apology, no particular interest or kind gesture, a free beer or anything. And with that we were dismissed. We wanted to give the hotel the chance to respond to our complaint and they failed. Customer service was nil on this occasion.

The morning breakfast was pretty spectacular and the staff in the restaurant do work hard. The meal and bar timings given to when you first arrive are incorrect and we found we missed lunch as they closed early. Maybe because it early in the season? Plastic glasses around the pool and no waitress service from your sunloungers. Lunch menu is the same As the evening menu (?), which In all honesty was nice but over priced and you can get a better meal at the harbour 20 minutes walk away.

The grounds of the hotel are VERY well cared for and the views are stunning. Rosemary and lavender bushes scattered through the garden & the lawns were impeccable. The pool is well maintained and the loungers are ok.

Ok so it sounds petty. But at £111 a night we would have expected more.

Now for the good bits. Cadaqués is beautiful, lovely scenery, walking trails, tones of restaurants to choose from. It’s prettier than roses and I would visit again. However we won’t be stay Hotel Sol Ixent.

I’m sorry. I would have liked to have given more but with how we were treated in relation to our complaint and the money spent I can’t justify giving it anymore.
