Not usually one for writing reviews, I felt compelled to write this one and heartily recommend Casa en Chorruelo to fellow travellers. We spent 11 nights here in April and absolutely loved the apartment. It was a perfect cosy (but spacious) home from home with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, a good shower, a welcoming sitting room (with TV and WiFi) and fantastic views across the mountains and down to the sea. The apartment is in a perfect position just a few minutes walk from the heart of the picturesque old town and parking nearby was not a problem. There are a choice of balconies and terraces and we particularly enjoyed sitting out on the bedroom terrace with our breakfast and admiring the lovely views across the valley with the newly arrived swallows wheeling overhead.

Frigiliana itself more than lived up to expectations, it really is very pretty and atmospheric with all the little cobbled pathways and immaculately kept houses, it is steep though so leave the high heels at home(!) Even though it was early in the season there were several lovely bars and restaurants open, our particular favourites were La Taverna del Sacristan in the church square and La Fuente where we enjoyed some very tasty tapas (gluten free on request as well). We liked the look of several other restaurants as well but could not fit them all in. La Tienda also needs a mention which is a lovely peaceful little cafe tucked away near the church square, run by friendly English owners but very much keeping the rustic Spanish feel, where we enjoyed good coffee and toasties (also gluten free which was very nice to find) the cakes looked good too but we did not have room for these. There are lots of interesting little craft shops in the village for browsing and a couple of small supermarket type shops where you can pick up the basics and we managed to communicate quite well with a little Spanish ventured here and there.

As far as beaches go we only tried Burriana beach in Nerja but found this very nice, clean and very peaceful apart from the weekend when it was obviously busier, there are sunbeds for hire and a row of beach restaurants all serving fresh fish and seafood, perfect for an al fresco lunch and also there is a place called AYOs where they cook a huge paella over a wood fire and when it's ready sell it by the plateful for about 7.5 Euros which was fun and different.

We can also recommend the Caves at Maro, which are much bigger and more spectacular than I was expecting, definitely worth a visit (again wear flat shoes). A trip to Granada is a must if you can fit it in, the Alhambra was absolutely amazing and there's so much to see, the Nazrid palaces are just beautiful.

All in all a perfect stay in a beautiful village in perfect accommodation, if you love peace and tranquility this is for you, this is definitely somewhere I would visit again.

“Lovely clean apartment”

Great apartment only a short walk from the Old Town with it's many restaurants. Apartment was spacious with 3 good sized bedrooms and ample storage. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you could possibly need and the lounge area was very cosy for those cooler nights. Various terraces to pick from with lovely views.

“Wonderful apartment in perfect location...”

Communication with the owner was very straightforward… all of our questions were answered quickly and once we had booked we received lots of additional advice and recommendations. Apartment was very easy to find and no problems at all with access.

Apartment is situated on a quiet street - a stone throw away from the historic heart of Frigiliana. The village is beautiful - as a family we have stayed all over the Mediterranean including Competa the pretty little village above Frigiliana - however - this really is such a special place. If you do visit make sure you get out early in the morning around 8.00am to walk the length of the village when the local community are pottering about - you're in real Andalusia! The village is a safe environment for teenagers to explore alone - with a great communal swimming pool only a short walk away. There are plenty of good quality restaurants for all tastes and budgets within walking distance.

Apartment was spotlessly clean there was everything we needed for a two week stay. We stayed here during a heatwave and the apartment was fine we just left the upstairs balcony doors open on a night (it felt very safe) - the breeze just swept through, we didn't have a problem sleeping and didn't see any mosquitos!

The private upstairs balcony's are great for afternoon sunbathing with great rustic panoramic views. Night sky is amazing from the rear balcony's, we spotted dozens of shooting stars. Mobile phone reception was excellent and there is free wi-fi in almost all of the bars and restaurants. There is a bar two minutes away with free wi-fi. The apartment has lovely drinking water - we kept it bottled in the fridge.

We will definitely return to Casa En Chorruelo. All four of us agreed it was a great family holiday home.

“Lovely flat close to the heart of the old town”

The flat was clean, beautiful and close to everything we needed. It is a modern flat but located close to the heart of the old town. It was also very quiet at night which was amazing considering how close we were to restaurants and such.
There are modern appliances. It had a front load washer, which came in handy for us as we are a family with a baby and a toddler. The flat does not have wi-fi and I think it would have been perfect for us if it did. Overall, we really enjoyed staying at the flat.
