We had a superior sea view room which is large and very comfortable, especially the bed which suited my wife's bad back. We also went fully inclusive because once you have paid the money your have no other hidden expenses except for things that you can control such as laundry. There is also a bonus with the superior room because you have a table reserved in the restaurant for dinner in the evening, which is handy especially if the hotel is fairly full.
Be careful because not all rooms have a direct view of the sea and for some the sunlight is restricted.
The rooms were kept clean, the staff are pleasant and helpful, the food is very good, and the restaurant provides a pleasant atmosphere. There is a swimming pool and gym with exercise equipment, a sauna and steam room as well as massage facilities, with two experience young ladies.
Every hotel has its good points and bad points. For our holiday this year we wanted to get away from the noise in Funchal which is why we chose this hotel. However the peace and quiet comes at a cost.
Transport: there is a courtesy minibus and the local bus into the city stops right outside the hotel.
Eating out: Although there is a promenade it is very short. There is a restaurant at one end and a series of steps at the other leading to some other restaurants. More restaurants are accessed up the road in front of the hotel. To get into the town is quite a walk up a steep hill so it is best to go by bus, but be careful not to get the express which avoids the town and goes straight into the city along the motorway.
The site of the hotel can be windy and a few degrees below Funchal.

This was our 2nd visit to this hotel and once again had a wonderful time.
We stayed from the 7th January for two weeks.
All the staff were pleasant and helpful
The food was excellent there was six of us in our party and all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Must mention the restaurant manager whose name I can't remember was always very professional and made you you feel welcome also mention Marta and Annabel in the pool bar
We will hopefully return next january
