Faded Elegance

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 May 2015
Showers are a bit small, rooms retain the period '70s radio, lift is small and painfully slow, but there is much to be happy about here.

Firstly, the restaurant, bar and reception are great. The staff are friendly and helpful, parking is never a problem, and the food is well worth it. Wifi is available in all rooms free, and the central spiral staircase is lovely. The pool setting is superb, and there are seats conveniently located by the front door as well as near the pool.

The hotel is just in front of a municipal (free) running track, and is within walking distance of town, as well as the Bellvedere sanctuary.

I've slept a few times here, always for work, always for just one night, always in winter or spring… At a quite affordable price, I've found kindness, a good service, very clean rooms and bathrooms with good level classic furnitures. It would be nicer if rooms would have less cold colors, they could look a bit cozier.
I always wanted to try and enter the spa, which looks very good, but I didn't have time yet, while I had the chance to try the restaurant, quite elegant… it looks much more expensive than what it is really, food is very good and service is kind and fast.
I didn't have breakfast (I almost never have breakfast) and I simply had to remind it when I had to pay to get the right price. It's not far from the center, there is a private parking but now it's not free, however there is plenty of parking places in front of the entrance… There is also an outdoor swimming pool, but so far I've found it always closed for winter…

Room tip: I didn't care much, I was always for few hours sleep, but I guess top floor would be better

Very nice and comfortable hotel. The SPA is relaxing, especially after one day to visit the entire town.
During the summer is possible to stay in the swimming pool to drink something.
Moreover the food is very good especially the mushroom and truffle.
I can suggest this hotel to all people that want to spent some days in Città di Castello and visit Umbria land.

The hotel offers good standard , maybe the rooms could be larger but the staff is so pleasant ,helpful and able to satisfy every request that it is easy to feel at home. I suggest to stay in the Garden Hotel also for dinner. Well located ( bikes at disposal,), swimming pool, and spa can solve free time during a trip.

Room tip: 302 is a double bedroom with balcony

As noted previously, this is an older hotel and somewhat worn around the edges. It is approximately 1 k. From the historic centre so inconvenient unless one wishes to drive in. The front desk service was very good and helpful and the rooms were clean comfortable, and average for a European hotel of the calibre. Did not use the spa or poll, but did have dinner in the restaurant. Here, both the food and the service were excellent. As a tourist, I would probably stay nearer the historic centre next time, but as a business man on a budget I would certainly consider this hotel. In any event, I would return for dinner if at all possible.

A large party of us stayed at the Garden Hotel as we were in Citta di Castelli for a wedding. We found the staff helpful, the rooms were not too spacious but were well equipped and cleaned daily to a high standard. We ate in the restaurant twice and the food was excellent and not too pricey. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice of both food and drinks. The walk in to the town took about 15/20 minutes but a taxi on one occasion only cost 6 euros. There is plenty of pleasant outside seating at the hotel. I would certainly stay there again
