My family and I stayed 4 nights at Fattoria Viticcio. Overall it's a nice place to stay and serves as a good base to drive around the Chianti area. Awesome view and away from the town. However, if you want to consider this place:
- make sure you check status of your booking. I didn't realize they didn't confirm my booking although I was asked and provided all my details. Thank god when we arrived in the late afternoon, a staff who was kind enough to offer us the only apartment available. If not for her, we would have left stranded in the countryside.
- it would be great if they could clean the apartment at least once every 2 days. We stayed for 5 days and there was no cleaning done, not even clearing the rubbish bins.
- at least change the bath towels and make the beds once every 2 days.
- please note there is no toiletries provided and do remember to bring your own.

We chose this place the night before after some internet research. We wanted to sample some Tuscan wines on our drive to Rome from Florence.

We opted for the tour (which comes with a tasting) for 25e per person. You need to call ahead and make a reservation so we had our desk person in Florence call for us. (in retrospect, they have English speaking staff so you can call directly).

Anyway, the tour was lovely and given by a wonderful female guide with great English. She was super friendly and taught us a lot about how wine is made. After the tour (about 20m), she brought us to a lovely outdoor table for our tasting. We tasted 5 excellent wines with large pours and also were treated to a tasty selection of meats and cheeses and olive oil. As expected, the wines and oil all can be purchased at the store afterwards at significant discounts (19e for the best wine which is about a 1/3 of what you'd pay in the states).

The setting was beautiful and the tour/tasting was a great value. We weren't rushed at all and we so much enjoyed great wine and cheese in the Tuscan countryside. Do this!

This winery is located in a lovely setting just outside the town of Greve. The host lady takes explains in Italian and English about the wine-making process and there's ample opportunity to raise questions. Very informative, even our teenage daughters enjoyed it. The tour ends with tasting 4 types of Chianti Classico accompanied by some cheese and sausages. Great stuff!

Though short, the wine tour was interesting and informative. The lady leading the tour also poured the tasting wine. The winery had a fantastic view of the heart of Chianti. Took many pictures. The wine was good and consistent with the average quality of wine in the Chianti region. Worth stopping in if you heading along the 222.

Located in lovely Chianti lies Fattoria Viticcio. I was blown away by the location, it's amazing! Earlier that day I called Lorena to ask if they still had availability for their winery tour in the afternoon. Luckily they had. We were welcomed very friendly by Chiara. She explained the process of making wine, showed part of the vineyard and the wine cellars. We were also lucky to be there on a day when the wine bottles were being labeled, which was interesting to see. After the tour was the wine and olive oil tasting. The four wines that we got to try were lovely. The wine is accompanied by a selection of local cold cuts and cheeses. Lastly, we had the opportunity to buy the wines in the little store and to take some pictures of the surroundings. We would love to come back and then also stay at the accommodation that is located on the premises, as it looks really nice!
