Pizzeria Erreclub is just a couple of minutes walk from the main square (Piazza Liberta) in Avellino. It was scorching outside and the room felt lovely and cool inside. We were a party of 4 (us two visitors from the UK and our generous hosts, Fabio and Barbara, who are locals) and started with a plain pizza and two local cheeses (cacho cavallo and spicy pecorino) to which our hosts had added some jam that bought from a local winery! Barbara was keen for us to share 4 different (huge) pizzas (one quarter each, making 1 pizza each in total), but after 2 it became clear that we from the UK would never manage it! The first one was very unusual: it was a lemon pizza, topped with Amalfi lemons. It was different and nice. The next was a superb Margherita (best this trip), made with tomatoes from near Vesuvius - as owner Carmine explained, all the ingredients are DOP, locally sourced and of high standard. It was really tasty with lovely thin crust. We then gave up on pizza and went for one of the house specialities - a fried dish that included arancini and strips of zucchini, which were crisp, sweet and succulent. These dishes were accompanied by a delightful local rose wine. The waiter continually filled a bottle of refreshing chilled water. He also brought out a carafe of home made Aglianico wine, which whilst perhaps not fine wine, was fruity and pretty good - made in the local tradition. To finish, we were served strips of pizza dough that had been deep fried and then coated in Nutella and sweet fresh strawberries - brilliant, although by then I was very full! Carmine brought out a couple of local liqueurs - one fennel based and one nut based - powerful! As our hosts were treating us, I do not know how much the meal cost, but it was very good indeed. The staff were very relaxed and friendly and invited us to see them making and baking a pizza in their wood-fired oven. I don't normally give restaurants 5 stars - but for a relaxed pizzeria with great food and warm hospitality from affable owner Carmine, I don't think you can do much better!

Spent an afternoon in Avellino & enjoyed lunch at Erreclub. We had a variety of pizza & sandwiches which were all delicious. The place was full of locals & all menus were in Italian. When traveling we strive to eat where the locals eat. The prices were more than reasonable & the beer & wine were wonderful as usual. Would highly recommend if you find yourself in Avellino.
