Unbeatably convenient, good vfm

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 08 Apr 2022via mobile
Can’t beat this for convenience- park outside, lift up to apt, lift down to ski set to collect kit, lift down to locker room and straight out the door onto the piste- Boom!! Apts are dated compared to other PV premium units we have stayed in, but functional and good value. We had a 1 bed + cabine (which is actually a 2 bed except the window opens onto hallway). Location is fantastic and worth putting up with the ugly buildings if you’re there to make the most out of the skiing. Lovely quiet runs just over hill in Champagny area which don’t get the ski school traffic.

We travelled with a 3 year old and I was worried the apartment may be too small. We booked a 1 bed that has bunk beds in an alcove. In fact, the bunk beds had their own separate room which suited us perfectly. My daughter loved her room and it was plenty big enough for 2 children.

The apartment was small, but you get what you pay for. It was perfect for us, we were out snowboarding all day and was only there in the mornings and evenings. It had lots of useful extras: dressing gowns, dish cloth, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels, one loo roll on arrival (you have to buy more), duvets and not blankets, bathroom towels, hairdryer. We were very happy with our stay.

Only negative is check in time is FROM 5pm. We got back to the apartments at just before 5pm and they could not tell us when we would be able to get into our apartment. Having left home in the UK at 2:45am, it was a very long day with a young family and all we wanted to do was get in, unpacked and to bed!! We did get our keys just after 5pm, but I'm not sure if that was because I had a little moan!!

They do a croissant and baguette delivery which you need to order by 6pm to collect at 8am. The pool was lovely, we only went once mid morning, and we were the only ones there. I would suggest taking your dressing gowns and going back to the apartment to get changed as there were only 2 small changing rooms which would not work if you have kids. Even though it was the winter season, the walk back was quick and not too cold!
Ski lockers were very handy with ski in ski out.

Apartment was very quiet, we heard neighbours a bit during the busy time ie dinner, but that was it. We had great views over the slopes and mountain.

We booked through Crystal Ski on a package deal.

Good:
1. Relatively cheap
2. Good location, ski in/ski out
3. Ski lockers
4. Pool and Sauna

Bad:
1. Very unstable wifi even if you pay for the FULL WIFI package
2. Heaters in rooms are not heat. So you can't dry wet clothes
3. You should buy your own toilet paper, they don't put a new one

Great location and great staff. Needs a little refurb if I am honest. ski lockers get very crowded and not many areas to sit and put on boots etc. Could do with boot heaters. Kitchen area is lacking basic utensils, we did not bother requesting replacements, this should have been checked.

Room tip: Request a room over looking golf. Spectacular scenery!

Great Xmas holidays with the family. We had a fantastic time with our children who discovered skiing in a great location. The apartment was outstanding, the swimming pool and spa facilities were great too.
Good food, great station, great apartment and services

We enjoyed a brief stay here in an apartment - kind of a hotel with no food. It was a basic one with a double and twin room with bath, shower, wc and small kitchen. Balcony had amazing views. Well geared up for skiing - each room has its own locker in the ski room and you have access straight on to the slopes. There is a ski shop on site with two others, a well stocked supermarket, some other shops, bars and restaurants in a neighboring building. Plenty of free outdoor parking, you can park under cover for a fee - worth considering if it’s snowing as we had to dig our car out. We found the staff excellent and we were made very welcome. The slopes immediately adjoining the hotel are fairly challenging and to ski back from across the resort you need to drop in via a supposed blue run that we all found quite difficult. So, not a place to stay if your skiers are total beginners, indeed I’m not sure La Plagne is really the place for beginners at all. Anyway, if you want challenging and varied skiing in amazing surroundings this is a good place to base yourself.
