Attending the ganga aarti at the pristine banks of rishikesh is a must. Witness the universe converge whilst immersing your tensions in goddess Ganga. Dip in d holy water is refreshing. If possible do give a try. Refreshments at Choti wala is awesome. A cup of tea at Pariwar tea stall -a small time tea stall at Muni ki Reti will refresh your mood. Also enjoy the paintings of shiva on wall by the propreiter mr sanjay. He s an old rafting specialist. Snaps are attached . Walk on ram jhoola and lakshman jhoola is exhilarating but one needs to be careful about the crowd. All in all Jai maa Gange.

This was a lovely experience on the river at sunset. Although we couldn’t understand what was being said they were very welcoming to us and included us completely. With the flames and picturesque scenery behind (the Ganges) it was a great insight into a Hindu ceremony in a lovely setting. Be mindful that many people participating are not tourists and so you should be quiet and respectful. Those present seemed very happy and used to sharing their daily worship with intrigued tourists though and were very friendly.

Went to the Aarti ceremony with no expectations.
I was moved by the loving vibrations, the spiritual cleansing and the mantras. I wish I could go the Ganges every week to be cleansed

Guess you understand what it means to be Indian when you experience the Ganga Aarti being performed.

You understand what it means to have 2000 years of culture built into your dna. You can actually sense a powerful bond with the land.

You also understand why the Ganges is sacred. You don’t feel the need for logic or explanation - you simply feel it in your bones.

And the Rishikesh Aarti is surprisingly and hearteningly not commercialised. No pundits badgering you for dakshinas. No crowds bearing down on you. No mad scramble for the ghats.

Just you and the river. And the sound of the Aarti bells. And the twinkling offerings gently bobbing into oblivion.

Just the way it was meant to be. Just the perfect way to pay your respects to the most sacred river in the world. By the ringing sounds of silence.

Ganga Aarati is also performed in Rishikesh and no hassles of pandits asking you to perform various pujas. Crowd is also less and you have a better sight and feel of participation. Many students of the Ashram come, sing and help the performance.wear informal clothes and chappals. We felt more comfortable here.
