You can spend a lot of time at this site if you are visiting because of the history of the time. Lots of well done exhibits, incredible films and if you go early in the day and not on a weekend you will enjoy the quiet and time to reflect!!

We were at Mount Vernon on an organised tour from Washington which was excellent, but made the mistake of visiting the house and then having lunch, only discovering with limited time remaining how much there is to see and learn in this excellent Centre. We gave good time to the “Lives Bound Together” presentation but then had to rush the main display. Do not make the same mistake, this Center is a must do.

If you can, spend an hour or two here before you tour Mt. Vernon. It is a nicely done museum, with videos, exhibits, and children's activities. This museum will give you a feel fot the 18th century life of the Washingtons, and helps to explain their plantation and daily life.

We watched the film and I am so glad we did. It was inspirational. This film reminds one of the huge importance George Washington was to our Country. His sense of duty and his wisdom was truly awe-inspiring. Do not miss this!

With the hands-on and "life sized" items in this museum, it makes you WANT to read about the exhibit. Loved the immersive "4D" show about battles Washington was in.
