We regularly visit Roots on our way back to the DC area from skiing at Whitetail in PA. It’s kid friendly, the burgers are off the hook good and so are the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Never had a bad experience.
It’s a farm to table culinary store/BBQ place. You can browse the gourmet market and local artwork while you are there. We always make a point of stopping when we are in the area.

Happened upon Roots today for lunch. More a store than a restaurant, Picnic table seating. Had a great smoked turkey sandwich with cole slaw and pickles plus a not impressive salad side that was prepacked. Very tasty. My wife had the corn and crab chowder she loved. Meals at other tables looked good and we will return. Total bill including tip was $23.

Anyone who knows Lucketts knows that it has been a gourmet food dessert for decades, but the opening of Roots changed all of that. Great food! The Pulled pork is among the best I have ever had (and I am from Arkansas!), the Brisket will melt in your mouth, the cheese burgers rival 5 Guys, and the daily special is always excellent. I read some of the other reviews, and I wondered which restaurant they went to. This is a very good place to eat! Rich Rosenberg was previously the head chef at Greenbriar Resort, and gives lectures/ cooking classes all over the US. Don’t believe the naysayers. This is good food!

Interesting place. Part shop...and part casual restaurant. Great BLT sandwich and slaw. My wife was less impressed with her turkey sandwich.

It's a cool atmosphere and concept, for sure, but Roots 657 is priced pretty high for what turns out to be not so special food.

I got the double burger, which was pretty good and of the cheesy, melty, meaty variety. Patties were thinner, but flavor was good. The quality doesn't really touch Melt, or Public House or any of the other places in Leesburg where great burgers can be had, though, so unless you live off this part of 15, it's a hike to go to Roots 657 for a burger that is done better at a few places in town.

My wife, a vegetarian got the chickpea sandwich, which she found to be kind of blah and just an appeasement to people who don't eat meat. She didn't really enjoy it at all. There was mac and cheese, but they use meat in it, which apparently they cannot make without.

My friend got the salad with added pulled pork. He said the meat was good, but the salad execution was not.

Overall, I doubt I will be back often as there's nothing for vegetarians and no real compelling meals that we had to induce a second try. Maybe they're good for catering? Definitely a disappointing meal for our party, though.
