Came 6/22/2017 in the late afternoon to stay for business a few days and was very surprised in regards to the unprofessionalism of the "management" and overnight staff. Hotel under construction and I understand that, however, does not give a reason for Management to be unprofessional. I arrived at 730pm and the front desk staff was very friendly with a nice personality. The overnight staff would not answer the phone on numerous occasions and when I walked up front she was sitting outside. Had a conversation with Management staff "Rasha", which made me feel very uncomfortable as she touched my shoulder and called me sweetie and honey..... with a huge ring in her nose I might add. As we talked she was talking very negatively about her staff and I come from a Management Team and that is something you DO NOT DO. Who hired these two individuals???

Hello stillermicheller,

Thank you for letting us know about your experience while staying here at the Clarion Inn Leesburg. We value your feedback and as a valued guest we apologize what you experienced. You are absolutely correct that no one should be talking about other staff members in a negatively way, whether they are a member of management or not. This and the fact that you could not reach the front desk during the over night is unacceptable, We are training our staff on how to give excellent service to our guests at all times. I invite you to try us again you are visiting the Leesburg area, to show that we are focused on you our guest.

Sincerely,
Mare Flanagan

If you have not been to the Clarion in Leesburg, recently, it’s a must revisit. Summer 2017 restarted a much-needed renovation and a new management team to this hotel, which has been a monument of Loudoun County, Virginia hospitality for decades. The original mansion, on the far outskirts of the town, surely goes back centuries. Once one of the first Holiday Inn hotels with indoor corridors and big ballrooms, it hosted many proms, weddings, business conferences, and memorable date nights in its restaurant. Unlike many suburban hotels it maintains some of the rural character in spaces where deer and other wildlife come out. Guests love to get out and roam around the property before the sun sets. Yet, it’s a half mile and mile and a half walk to two shopping/restaurant complexes through very pleasant, safe new neighborhoods. If the walk is too far (not suggested after dark), the hotel will take you there and come get you in the van they use to transport people to and from Dulles International Airport. The public schools, behind the hotel, have a track and plenty of lovely outdoor spaces.

As with any hotel complex in the midst of renovation, its a work in progress. Not all the rooms have been remodeled. The new beds are wonderful. There’s still some fine tuning needed to make the rooms great, but they have the big mirrors, sturdy refinished furniture, and other nice things which newer cookie-cutter hotels skip. The ongoing construction is happening much smoother than most hotels which do the same but it can get a little messy at times. There are now much better Internet speeds and high-resolution television. The outdoor courtyard’s ¼ olympic swimming pool is open much to the delight of many families. We’ve seen the exterior get a great facelift, this month. All the broken gym equipment is gone, and we’ve heard there’s more to come with the exercise room.

While we were there in the Spring, the restaurant was remodeled. Yet, it needs some softening with curtains or something because everything is noisy when the place gets full. Though Rosy, Rosa, and Alicia work like crazy to get a hot buffet happening every morning, bus tours pack the place wall to wall and food can run out and the dining area gets to be a mess. The new very professional Front Desk Manager, Yoranda, has been coming in to help keep order, and make sure the guests know they are appreciated at breakfast. There’s still much work which needs to be done there. We have not tried the restaurant at dinner. It has an India-American kind of direction and not a very good selection beverages. It doesn’t make sense that in a county with fabulous craft breweries and wineries, there are no draught beers at the hotel’s restaurant. But the restaurant has a wonderful exhibit of the work of local artists. The Village at Leesburg, on the other side of Route 7, has Wegmans and plenty of great restaurants, which are a must-do.

The new housekeeping staff, like the facility, is a work in progress. They are super nice people but we sometimes need to get a few of the things they forget and hallways, stairwells, and commons areas are a battle they can’t fight too well during renovation. The night manager Tereya, goes above and beyond the call of duty to make the guests happy when things are not 100% what they expect.

The business center room has been renovated but it could use an iMac and an HP with Windows 10 plus a color printer, like other upper midscale hotels have. We’re told an elevator, outdoor restaurant patio, and ballrooms renovation are coming. Mare, the new GM, is a hospitality professional who has been a Director or Sales. Her sales people are just what this property needs to once again make it the respected player in the Leesburg business community that it once was, but with a refreshing new direction.

Book early for the most competitive prices and be sure to ask about group rates for the events this hotel is famous for hosting.

Room Tip: Ask for a recently remodeled room

Staff very helpful and any obstacles that came were over ridden by the fantastic staff at the Clarion inn Leesburg. My office is in Ashburn so I stay at the property at least once a month. The restaurant and bar have fantastic food and cooks are authentic Indian food as well as american. They have an out door pool that is open from memorial day to labor day some children but not overloaded.

Room Tip: unfortunately there are no elevators so try and reserve a first floor room.

Not sure what is historic about this hotel. The outside is not very appealing at all. The hotel sits on the side of a major highway. The outside is under renovation and apparently the inside was already renovated. However, the inside of our hotel room AC cover was falling off. In addition, there was a hole in the shower wall. The breakfast in the morning was nice. In the evenings, the bar is open but the restaurant is closed for renovation. Not sure how this hotel gets away with charging 200+ a night. There were cigarette butts on the parking lot near the entrances.

I have a disability and asked for a 1st floor and was not accommodated, I had to do stairs which is very difficult for me, Lounge-bartender refused to serve mixed drinks during happy hour because of her religion. Food order incorrect 3 times took over 2 1/2 hours and still not correct. Ignored by her and she tried to serve food that was over an hour old. Men's restroom had water leaking from ceiling. Requested 3 am wake up call to catch a flight, never received call. Called front desk, no answer after 3 attempts. Went down there employee said it wasn't her fault and she didn't care if we complained to her manager about her attitude. I seriously couldn't even make this situation up, lounge situation was even worse than I could even have enough time to explain.

Room Tip: No elevator and very confusing to get around to front desk and restaraunt.
