First of all, a huge thank you to Barb who, undoubtedly put hours of meticulous thought into making this vacation rental a home. The home itself was stunning from the inside out, with wooden walls, ceilings, and floors. Lights with dimming options allowed for a cozy ambiance, with the radiating warmth of the electric wood-burning stove, and the gentle lapping of the nearby Lake Champlain. The kitchen was fully stocked from baking utensils, to cookware, to a wide array of plates, bowls, mugs, and glasses. The refrigerator had basic essentials, as well as the cupboards, which housed several different varieties of seasonings, tea, sugar, and coffee. The pantry, too was fully stocked, in the case of random, midnight cravings, which, for the record, the freezer was filled with ice-cream. Rest assured, that your cravings will surely be satisfied. The jacuzzi was absolutely glorious, especially after long days of driving and walking to partake in all the touristy attractions. As we came in the winter, we did not get to spend too much time on the balconies--there were two: one leading from the master bedrooms, and the other from downstairs, but they, too were inviting. The view itself from the living room made it extremely difficult to even consider taking part in the touristy activities: Lake Champlain and Adirondack Mountains in the serene and homely home...speaks for itself. Without a modicum of hesitancy, I highly recommend renting this home; you won't regret your decision.
It’s four weeks since our return from Barb and Barb’s “breathtaking,” wonderful house on southern Lake Champlain and we’re yearning to return. Jan and I and Nelly (our small Labradoodle) found the setting serene and beautiful. Having morning coffee on the deck watching the mist rise over the lake to reveal the Adirondack Mountains was so peaceful. Then at night, gazing up at a billion stars, I felt the true meaning of “awesome”. The House with its high ceilings and angular interior was very bright and spacious, while the gas fire place in the living room made it oh so cozy on cool nights. It was certainly the loveliest of many lovely houses we’ve rented. And Barb and Barb were certainly the most welcoming and helpful hosts we’ve known. As for the Champlain Valley, hugged by the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks, well, it’s wonderful in every season. Our week was just what we’d hoped for.
