I took my company out to West Texas for a creative retreat, and Villa Terlingua was our first stop. It was magical. The house is gorgeous, and you can sleep on the patio under the stars! It was a wonderful place to wake up, to share meals and to enjoy wine on the porch. Cynta is a lovely spirit and warm hostess, and the accommodations she has created are truly one-of-a-kind. I will be back!
Now, I don't know if Terlingua is your idea for an unusual vacation but it should be. It is unlike any other place you might visit. And if you do visit, Villa Terlingua is the place to stay. It is a restored ruin on a hill in Ghost Town, facing a fantastic view of the mountains of Mexico. The sunrise has to be seen to believed. We stayed in a small cabin, very comfortable, with an outdoor bed, shower and patio, with in and out door kitchens. The main house is larger, with all the amenities plus incredible art. The highlight is Cynta, the owner. A former river guide, she can tell stories about the area, the people, activities and more. Weather is a factor in the desert, plan for spring or fall. Call Cynta for more information. And go there.
