I just stayed at this resort with my family of 5 and another family of 4. We had an AMAZING time!!!!! This review is a little long but I read some reviews ahead of time and I didn’t feel it gave much info. I wanted to do a detailed one to help people understand how different this place was. We didn’t know what to expect...We knew it would be better than a Great Wolf Lodge type stay but it was closer to a Disney or Cruise experience. I appreciate that they have made so many amazing adult areas at this resort. I mean we are the ones paying for everything but sometimes I feel that resorts only provide bars for adults. This resort provides all kinds of entertainment for adults. I highly recommend this for families, friend groups, conventions, family reunions and much more. The design of the whole property in the African theme was executed very well. Things I LOVED: 1. The Game Center and rides- this area was huge and we had kids from 8-16years of age and they all loved it!!! So many different things to do. They had several different climbing walls and a ropes course. Those were my kids favorite of the “rides”. It’s best to buy the Texas Safari pass. I felt like they got to do a little bit of everything with that. 2. Things I LOVED:
1. The Game Center and rides- this area was huge and we had kids from 8-16years of age and they all loved it!!! So many different things to do. 2. The indoor Waterpark- loved the massive amount of slides they had!!! We were there for two days with NO lines and still didn’t ride everything. Our boys loved the Flowrider, and I was so happy to see the lifeguards taking the time to teach my boys new tricks. The wave pool had music videos playing the whole time. They started our stay with 80’s music and videos. That won us over from the start. The adult Grotto was so unique and secluded feeling. Definitely my favorite part of the Waterpark. So my family gave me all their favorite rides: trap door one, flush you down the toilet one, and Babbling baboon.
3. Restaurants- we ate at several of the restaurants and had fantastic service with Jeremy, Daniel, Anne, and V!!! Price was a little above average but everything tasted terrific and the presentation was beautiful. I don’t feel like any money was wasted there. Don’t even get me started on how amazing the candy shop was!!! To think they make so much in house was mind blowing. It was delicious. We brought stuff from home to eat there in our room but we didn’t even end up eating it because the restaurants were such an experience we didn’t want to miss out. They were all themed like on a cruise. It was fun just to go.
4. Redd’s Piano Bar- You usually only find these on cruises or all inclusive resorts, it really made me feel like I was away on vacation. They had a traveling musician in town and he really kept the place alive and popping. We ran into one of the managers Mark as we were leaving and he thanked us for coming. I really appreciate how the management staff makes an effort to interact with guests to make sure their experience is amazing.
5. Outside areas- I could see the overview from my balcony and so I decided to go outside and walk all around. Even though so much outside was closed this time of year it all the more makes me want to come back in warmer weather. They had an outdoor stage and market, they had fire pits and conversation areas all around. They had an outdoor barn, big outdoor pool area and a safari walk out front as you come in.
6. Escape Room- my kids did the Western themed escape room and said it was a lot of fun. It’s 30 min long and it comes with the Safari pass. They are 11-16 and they said it wasn’t too hard for them to do alone.
7. The spa!!! I asked for a tour of the spa and it is by far one of the favorites I have EVER been to. They have this salt room for relaxation that is so unique. A lot of their relaxation rooms you can use as a couple. Not a lot of resorts do that. And their hot tubs are actually hot!!! Then they have a second one outside!!
Only con- it’s a very big hotel. If you are physically disabled bring a wheelchair. Rooms are a decent walk from the rooms. More
