“Great House with Stunning Views”
Reviewed 17 August 2017 for a stay in April 2016

The house is located at a great location, with gorgeous, breathtaking views on all sides. The area is peaceful and quiet, with very rare noise from a passing car. The house is large, filled with natural light and well appointed with all modern amenities.

The living room was large, with lots of comfortable seating. The house is well stocked with lots of reading material, TVs, DVD and a games cupboard. There is also a nice cosy fireplace for the cold nights. The kitchen is large with lots of working counters and all the necessary amenities. The bedrooms are spacious and well decorated, although the beds were a little creaky, at times.

We had an issue with the central heating after our first night, which was unable to be solved till our departure. Since it was fairly cold at the time, the lack of heating and the inavailability of hot water made things hard.

Despite that, I would stay the location, views and the ambience of the holiday home was absolutely fantastic, and had it not been for the issue with the heating, our stay would likely have turned out absolutely perfect.

“Lovely family accommodation, great location”
Reviewed 22 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

An Aisling is a beautiful home, peacefully located near the sea with wonderful views. It is well equipped and very relaxing with plenty of seating space throughout the house. It played a significant part in enabling our group of 6 to enjoy a memorable family holiday on our favourite Scottish island.

“A little bit of paradise...”
Reviewed 26 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We've spend a week in this lovely home. As we arrived late in the evening, we got the key in a little safe. Very easy! We fell in love with the house the moment we saw it. Just driving up to it, it is already quite impressive. Inside, 3 lovely bedrooms, 2 good sized and well equipped bathrooms and an extra toilet. We had everything we needed and even more. In the kitchen it was very nice to not only have a table but also a sofa. One could be cooking, the other one could relax in the meanwhile. Nice! In the actual living room, great television, lovely seats, fire place, etc. The only downside for us was the small bed in the master bedroom. We are used to a kingside bed and that was not the case here. But it was never promised to be, so no comment there. A little suggestion? Make the curtains so that they block out the light. We where awake very early due to the early daylight. No problem there however, it gave us more time to explore Skye! Hope to come back one day!

“Lovely large house, beautiful views, great location, wonderful island.”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

I would really recommend this lovely house with fantastic views. We were lucky to have great weather and could see far out to sea, to the Western Isles. Large windows make you feel close to the natural beauty outside, whilst staying warm and comfortable inside. The location is peaceful, and the road that passes by is very quiet. We loved strolling down to the seashore, 2 minutes away, climbing on rocks where waves splashed on windy days, and paddling on the pebbly shore, with no-one else around.

The house feels luxurious inside, as it is so spacious, bright and well-decorated with comfortable sofas. There's a large kitchen with dining table, TV, sofa and scenic views, and a separate large living room with TV, Wii, DVD player, games cupboard, more views and real fireplace. We enjoyed playing Cluedo and toasting marshmallows on the fire.

The kitchen is spacious with plenty of cupboards, work surfaces and utensils. We were a bit disappointed that the quality of the kitchen utensils didn't match the quality of the rest of the house. The non-stick surfaces of several saucepans, frying pans and oven trays were coming off, and there was no large frying pan with lid. Chopping boards and grill pan weren't very clean. The cutlery basket in the dishwasher was broken. It would be helpful to label the dishwasher switch on the wall. I expect these things might get fixed, as generally the place is very well looked after.

The three bedrooms are spacious, well-decorated and attractive with lovely views and good storage space. The ensuite bedroom is absolutely fantastic - like a luxury hotel. Unfortunately, the double bed in the smaller room and one of the single beds in the twin room were not great, with soft mattresses and creaky, noisy frames. The skylight in the twin bedroom has no curtain or blind and the windows in the twin room and the smaller double bedroom have only thin, white curtains that don't keep out the light. As it's hardly dark overnight and is light very early, this could be a problem for some people, especially those or those who want to stop young children waking up early.

The two bathrooms are spacious and clean, the walk-in shower is great, and it was nice to be provided with towels.

There are lots of books on shelves and there games for children and some binoculars as well. There is no book about Skye or a map, so I recommend bringing your own.

It's a great location with lots to see locally, and easy to drive further away - only 20 minutes to Portree (little town, tourist office, shops, cafes, restaurants, fish and chips, harbour, boat trips). Only 17 minutes from the house to the large Co-op supermarket outside Portree, with good parking.

Easy to search on tripadvisor for recommended things to do on Skye. In a day we did a driving tour round the North East of the island including walking up Fairy Glen near Uig (pretty - good for young children or teenagers to explore lots of tiny hillocks and an optional scramble up the biggest), and then a driving tour to the Skye Museum, round to the Kilt Rock waterfall and past the Old Man of Storr. Brilliant scenery. Another day we drove and strolled to Coral Beach - very pretty.

We were without a car for the second part of the holiday and still found plenty to do, proving you could holiday here without a car.

From the house, there's an easy walk for a mile or two eastwards along the shore, to a quiet peninsula with many little paths and lovely gorse bushes, hillocks and beautiful views over to Uig to the east and the Cuillin mountains to the south. It looks like you could walk even further than this as there are so many paths, and nobody is around.

Edinbane Taxis (book by phoning Edinbane Inn) were very friendly and good value. We took a taxi to the nearby Suladale Riding Stables and did an hour pony trek - very pleasant. We went back the next day to try their meditation on a horse (sounds strange but it was nice!). Another short taxi ride took us to Skye Bikeshack to hire cycles - another good place, with lovely scenery.

There is a bus stop a mile from the house to Portree, so one day we took the bus there and back and did the Stardust boat trip from the harbour.

We were able to get public transport home, combining taxi, bus from Portree and train from Kyle. The Portree bus goes all the way to Glasgow too.

There is a lot more to see on this beautiful island. We would strongly recommend Skye and An Aisling for a great holiday.
