I was referred to Tikal Go by my cousin, who took a tour with them a few weeks before I arrived in Peten. I called them the day I landed in Peten, and despite the last-minute-ness of our call, the team was more than willing to make our time there as magical as possible. We took the first day to relax at our hotel, and since we only had one day left to explore the area, we decided to do 2 tours in 1 day. The first one we did was Tikal (I recommend waking up early at 5am because there aren’t that many people at the park yet and we got to see more wildlife), and then we went to Yax-ha to watch the sunset from Pyramid 216 (one of the best views I’ve seen in my life). Alex and Pablo were our guides- Alex drove and Pablo walked us through each of the parks.. and let me just say, the amount of knowledge that Pablo showed surpassed any other guide I’ve ever toured with. You can tell he not only knew a lot about the place, but also had a hunger and a passion that makes him want to keep learning more.. he not only studied ecotourism but also has a degree in archaeology, which gives him much more insight.
Some may want to go for a less-pricey option, but if you really want to make the best out of your time in Peten, it’s well worth the $. What a great experience.
Thank you Tikal Go- we hope to come back soon!
