My friend & I were on a bike ride from Bandera & made a stop. Nice little general store & a post office for a photo. There were lots of people hanging out listening to the music. We had a cold beer. They also had food that looked good, but we weren't hungry at the time.

Waylon Jennings won't be at the mic but someone else will be belting out a country tune or two at this near-ghost town that still keeps the music alive. It's a great weekend stopover for dancing on a Friday night in the still-upright dance hall or listening to bands on a Sunday afternoon with other music lovers by the stage. Souvenirs are available in the original general store, and food trucks provide everything from pulled pork nachos to apple-fried fritters. The bar is cash only, though, so come prepared.

If a country singer ever mentions your town in a song, it will become a tourist destination. Luckenbach, Texas is just a little tiny almost-a-town, consisting of a post office/general store/beer joint, a dance hall, and a food trailer or two. It has a friendly down home flavor to it though. Hopefully, if you are there during the week, there will be some entertainers singing songs and spinning yarns for the tourists. An old rooster joins in the medley every now and then. Enjoy the performance and remember to tip the singers, grab a bite to eat at the food trailer, check out the general store, and take some pics to remember the place. We went to the back of the post office/general store/beer joint, ordered a beer, and took a photo with the beer babe. She said that she is undoubtedly in thousands of family photo albums and no one even knows her name. It's Linda. So when you're in Luckenbach, say "Hey" to her for us, and let's be sure that she becomes famous.

We had a fabulous night at Luckenbach watching Asleep at the Wheel perform, but be warned - you need to get there very early if you want to be inside! Our information was that the gates opened at 6.30pm. We arrived at 6.00pm and the hall was full already. We found a place at a table by a window and had a fabulous night listening to our favourite band ata quirky venue.
