Came to Houston for the Space Center and was looking for a fun way to beat the Texas heat. Found the Kemah Boardwalk. It's a fun, small boardwalk filled with good restaurants, bars amusement rides & games and a marina. I like anything fast and loud and we just happened to luck into being here the weekend the Outlaw Challenge offshore racing boats were in town. These boats are fast, loud, obnoxious and completely over-the-top. And I love them! This was a great place to watch them cruise through the marina and then open it up as they headed out to race.
The boardwalk itself is a great place to spend time with friends and family. Nothing too big or too scary but just enough to have lots of fun. And speaking of fun....The Boardwalk Beast. Soooooooo much fun!

When you get hungry, there are several restaurants on the boardwalk or across the marina that offer a great place to relax and enjoy the views. We walked around the marina and enjoyed the food and the live music at The Swamp Shack. Good food and really great staff.

Whether you are looking for a fun, family adventure or looking to turn things up a bit when the lights go down, Kemah Boardwalk offers something for everyone.

This place is a tourist place, Everything is expensive. Water is $3.75 a bottle or 2 /$7. Not much to do unless you enjoy amusement park rides or games.

We made a point to drive here. It’s a bit of an effort to get to but we enjoyed it. Watching the boats go by is great and there is quite a bit to do. It’s bigger than expected, though definitely a tourist area so expect to pay tourist prices.

A visit at 3PM in mid-June was (as expected) very hot and humid. I would recommend going at night to get out of the heat and enjoy the rides and the experience with more people.
We went as part of the CityPass, and so we didn’t feel the need to force ourselves to stay for very long, and instead went to the beach!
