Jungle Retreat Wayanad is an all time favourite place of mine and now in a single visit, it has become my wife’s favourite too.! We decided to celebrate our first anniversary with our family in JRW.
We stayed there for 5 nights and each day was a fantastic and an un-forgettable experience. We spotted lots of Elephants, Gaurs, and Deer on the side of the road during our sunset drives on the Thiruneli road!
The famous half tail visited the farm twice during our stay!
On the eve of our anniversary, as we were returning from the Kalpetta market, we saw an animal crossing the road, trying to place itself low and cross the road quickly. We were around 75 feet away on the road. As we came closer and stopped the car, we realised that it was a beautiful sub adult leopard! It crossed the road, waited on the side, looked back at us and quickly rushed again into the woods. Leopards are very rare to spot and we were extremely lucky to have spotted one.! It’s a memory for life!
On the last day we decided to experience the self drive in the morning through Nagarhole National Park. Half way through, where there is a small school, just before that, we spotted a huge bear standing in centre of the road. Seeing us get closer the bear ran into the bushes. On the last day we decided to experience the self drive in the morning through Nagarhole National Park. Half way through, where there is a small school, just before that, we spotted a huge bear standing in centre of the road. Seeing us get closer the bear ran into the bushes. Had not expected to see the bear at around 8:45am in the morning.
A little ahead we spotted a pack of Dholes. Three on the left side and two on the right side of the road. They were probably preparing to hunt, but since stopping your vehicle inside Nagarhole National Park is not allowed, we had to continue driving.
Anil and Anju are extremely friendly & superb hosts! Incredibly happy & lucky to have got a chance to be friends with you both! Special thanks to you all for making our anniversary so special..!!
Manu, Kumar, Ajith, Amit form a great team. They take good care of all the Guests.
JRW team wear their masks at all times and maintains distance while interacting with everyone.
Cottages are nice and clean. JC2 has recently been renovated and made more spacious.
Food served is exceptionally good.
It’s been two weeks since we returned, and I have already started to miss the place!
