This home is absolutely stunning! The intricate woodwork and stained glass are exceptional! There is a self-guided recorded tour with separate recordings for about 16 well-marked points of interest.

This is a must see if you like historic homes. We liked Bishops Palace much better than Moody Mansion.

The architecture, neighborhood, and scenery in this area are beautiful. The Bishop's Palace really stands out with its manicured yard and unique design. I was blown away by seeing this house in person.

We go to Galveston Island every summer. We had visited Moody Mansion and the Strand but I really wanted to see the Bishop's Palace. We went to the Historical Society building to see if we could get tickets . When we got there they told us that the Bishop's Palace was closed because they were working on the electricity. I was disappointed but we went on a Historical tour instead. The next day we decided to see if the Bishop's Palace was open yet. When we arrived there were two very nice young people sitting on the steps outside. We asked if it was open and they said they didn't have any power but we were welcome to tour anyway. The audio tour was not available but they gave us a printed sheet that referenced different things in the house. Even though it was hot, it was very pretty! The stained glass windows were even more vibrant because they weren't competing with the overhead lights. I think it made it a little easier to imagine what it would have been like when they lived there many years ago.

This was a pleasure to visit. My husband and I came down for the day from Houston (although travelling from Sydney Australia) and we drove around looking at the outside of these lovely Galveston houses. The one we chose to pay to see inside was Bishops Palace. It was immaculate and the furniture used was all linked to the previous owners. Such a treasure. Well worth the visit.
