Owner description: Formerly the Nimitz Museum, the complex is now the only museum in the Continental United States centered on World War II's Pacific campaign. Since 1968, the Museum has expanded to occupy a six-acre campus and gained a reputation as one of the premier military museums in the nation. Over the years the Museum was upgraded and enlarged, and the campus grew to accommodate the Memorial Courtyard, the Plaza of Presidents and the Japanese Garden of Peace. We opened the expanded George H. W. Bush Gallery in 2009. The Gallery's state-of-the-art 33,000 square foot exhibition features 40 media installations, approximately 900 artifacts in 97 climate-controlled cases, 15 macro-artifacts, and hundreds of photographs. Two blocks east of the main campus is the Pacific Combat Zone. Recently reopened after an $8 million renovation. The PCZ is also home to our popular WWII Pacific Combat Program that takes place on set weekends throughout the year.

I've been through the museum several times. The displays really tell the story of the war in the Pacific.

This is an amazing museum if WWII is of any interest to you. The tickets is good for 2 days and you will need it is you explore this entire museum. There is also a re-enactment field which is wonderful to visit when the museum is putting on a battle re-enactment. This is a very well done museum and very well funded.

We have been to Fredericksburg many times in the past but never stopped here. If you have ever served in the military, then you have to see this place. If you have children over the age of 12 they need to see this also. Plan to spend at least two or three hours to see the whole thing. You get to see three museums for the price of one and you have 48 hours to see them all. At $10 a person, it is the best deal in town. Highly recommended!

Really, really nicely done. It's informative as you would think it should be. Sometimes museums don't seem to get the right amount of information posted but this one does. The peace garden with all the plaques shouldn't be missed. You don't have to pay to see those.
