My wife and I were looking for a getaway not too far from Austin for our 15th anniversary. It had been many, many years since either of us had been to Fredericksburg, and the short drive from Austin was doable. We wanted something just outside of town so that we might enjoy a little quiet stargazing. The Bird Point cabin fit the bill.
It is hard to do this cabin justice in the pictures available online. As a third-generation home builder, I can attest to the attention to detail that is demonstrated in the construction of this cabin. It appeared to be mostly framed of reclaimed timbers and siding, and my goodness, what a beautiful job they did.
The location was great - it's in a "rural subdivision" where there are several homes, but other than driving in and out of the neighborhood, we did not have any interaction with anyone; couldn't hear people out on their patios or any sort of noise whatsoever. The goal of "quiet" was achieved at this cabin.
There was a (brand new) hot tub which we enjoyed, but more so the breeze on the covered porch. Lovely.
My wife got VERY relaxed, so much so that she was asleep early enough Saturday night that I could turn on the GIGANTIC flat screen and watch some UT Longhorn football in the living room. Bonus!
Would highly recommend for anyone looking to have a quiet respite with all the bells and whistles and near enough town to not make it a hassle to grab a meal or do some touring.
