Owner description: The adventure at The Dallas World Aquarium begins at the top of the rainforest exhibit, where exotic birds, such as Cocks-of-the-rock and many species of toucans, can be seen. Lounging around are Two-toed and Three-toed sloths. Endangered animals, such as Orinoco crocodiles, Giant river otters, Antillean manatees and several species of monkeys are part of the many conservation projects. The aquarium portion displays interesting marine life, including Japanese crabs, jellyfish, Leafy, Weedy and Ribbon seadragons. Black-footed and Blue penguins can be seen swimming as guests enjoy the outdoor South Africa exhibit. Sharks, rays and sawfish are only a few of the fish living in the Mundo Maya cenote. Safe from Neotropical eagles, are euphonias, tanagers and hummingbirds. Reptiles and amphibians, both of significance to the Maya culture, can be seen throughout the exhibit.

I'm more of a zoo than aquarium person. This had enough of both so I could see my bats, a sloth, tamarins and an ocelot while my friend enjoyed the spotted rays, penguins and the various fish. More on the expensive side for the time we spent there, but there were a wide variety of fish and animals in a pretty setting. It was very green and pretty to walk through. I'd go back again next time I'm in town.

DWA is mostly an aquarium with a bit of zoo and aviary. Everything is indoors and air conditioned. It's well designed - you start and the top and walk your way down in a spiral. This allows you to view the exhibits from different vantage points. It can get very busy on weekends and holidays. If possible, take transportation there (Uber etc) to avoid both the cost and hassle of trying to find parking in their lot.

Spent a great couple of hours here viewing the birds, animals and sea creatures. Saw many species I had not seen before and enjoyed the tropical layout of the place that lets the inhabitants live in a near-natural environment.

I noted comments in Trip Advisor about the smell.. Yes it does smell but it was a natural earthy aroma I would associate with the outdoors. However, if you are susceptible to respiratory issues, be aware that parts of this facility have a semi-tropical environment that may not suit you.
