I hesitate to write this review. We are frequent visitors to the area and have stayed in many cabins. Hickernut is a nice cabin in a convenient area. And was adaquate for our needs. However there were a few things that took away from our stay. 1. The mattresses are all in need of an updating. We occupied all 5 bedrooms and that was unamious. 2 Four of the tvs needed to be set up or even plugged in. When you come into a place like this all appliances should be operational. 3 Air on main floor was not working. This was taken care of by management so no a real problem. 4 Fridge leaks. 5 Not enough towels in each bath for the weekend . Without these problems I would highly recommend this cabin as is I would have them contact the rental agency befor renting and insure these things were taken care of.
To me, this cabin identifies perfection. It's absolutely the best cabin in pigeon forge. The floor plan is awesome for large groups. It has 4 king size suite's. Each with their on baths. Lots, and I mean lots of space. Nice ramp leading up to the front door so guest who can not do stairs well, will not have any trouble. Plus there is 2 suites on that main floor. No steps involved. Great for elderly folks. We stay in this cabin every yr in November.
There were a total of nine people in our party, ages 9 to 67 (five kids, four adults), but it was very spacious and comfortable for everyone. It was easy to get to, just as described, and we found it to be an enjoyable stay. The movie room was awesome, but it took me a little time to figure how to get the surround sound working. Some helpful instructions and/or FAQs for the movie room would've been nice.
Everything was working properly, with the exception of the television downstairs in the living area. It would come on, but when I tried to change the channel (on both the TV and remote) it would mute the sound and the channel would not change. It wasn't a big deal to us since we didn't spend our vacation watching TV anyway, but was slightly disappointing for the kids who stayed in the bottom level. The sliding shower doors in the bottom level bathroom was also a little difficult to open. It nearly had to be lifted and dragged in order to get into the shower.
The kitchen was well stocked with paper towels and dishwashing detergent and the bathrooms were all well stocked with towels, wash cloths and toilet paper. The cabin was generally well cleaned. The only complaint was that the wood floors and tile kitchen floors felt a little dirty when walked on with bare feet. I got the impression the floors are not entirely mopped between visits.
The cabin was as expected and just as described on the website. Wi-Fi worked great. We grilled out our first night there and the gas grill worked perfectly. This is our second time using Patriot Getaways and I think we've decided to keep using them for any future visits to the Smokies.
