Loved it! An incredible man and pivotal in shaping and defending our country. The Hermitage does not hide the dark sides of him but chooses to focus on the good as they should.

Of all the preserved presidential homes and estates this one has the most intact furnishings to give you an authentic look of what the home looked like when occupied. The displays in the visitor center give you a great understanding of Andrew Jackson and The War of 1812.

The home of Andrew Jackson on 1000 plus acres is basically an arboretum, plus mansion, plus original Jackson cabin , and other out buildings. The start of the tour is an informative film and a gallery of his history. Then you walk to the mansion - a fair hike. The tour in the mansion is 12 people in a group. After a great in house tour, you walk the ground contains slave quarters, Jackson's original log cabin on the property, gardens, and his burial site. Take water during tours during the summer.

Andrew Jackson's Hermitage is a very worthwhile excursion if you are staying in the Nashville area. No photography is allowed inside the mansion, but audio guides and live guides provide excellent information. The sprawling property includes a variety of outbuildings including slave cabins, a spring house and smokehouse.
There are also lovely gardens and a short nature trail on site.
A visit to this former working plantation and home of America's seventh president is a wonderful historical must-see.
