“"We haven't seen any Kingfishers for a while"”
Review of Kingfisher Cruises

Kingfisher Cruises
Reviewed 3 May 2018

That is a direct quote from our host when quizzed by a passenger. Actually, there was very little bird and no animal life to be seen considering it's national park. All seemed a bit eerily quiet and deserted.
Not the most dramatic/interesting/varied stretch of river, either. Commentary is knowledgeable, but a bit robotic and monotonous, and only on the outbound leg.
Only option was a 1.5 hour cruise, so we sped back down the river to get back in time and I thought I saw a Kingfisher but we were going too fast.
Suggest don't go as far, but maintain speed at which wildlife can be seen and photographed.

$40 per person for a 2 hour cruise on the Barmah lake and Murray river was great value. The guide was really knowledgable and was great fun. Nice and relaxing but very interesting. We are not bird watchers but Saw Kingfishers , whistling kites which was nice.
Totally recommend Kingfisher cruises.

While I have cruised the Barmah Choke with The Kingfisher a number of times, the joy of slowly cruising up river is as wonderful as ever. Our guide Benita was full of info, encouraging us to spot the "kingfisher",and a raft of other birds.Even spotting a junior Red Bellied Black snake swimming along!!.This a great tour for Families, Twitchers, anyone that loves the riverine environment, with a expert guide.

Hubby & I have been on this cruise 4 times in the past 28 years & every cruise has been different. We have cruised through floods & through low waters.
This is the first time with Benita & she was extremely knowledgeable & entertaining. It's relaxing & tranquil & just listening out for the various birdlife & the ever elusive Kingfisher.
To know what happens to the Murray River during times of flood, drought & fire is interesting.
This is a must for visitors to the area.

We had a great tour with John, many photos taken of azure kingfishers, and white bellied sea eagles. Totally recommend this trip, cheaper and better than the paddlesteamer cruise in Echuca, a must for nature lovers.
