This place isn't exactly a budget visit but the tour of the castle was conducted by a very informative and helpful tour guide. Weather was such we didn't tour the main gardens but did visit the Secret Owl Garden and thought this exceptional. There are over 20 birds, clearly healthy and well kept. Apparently almost all are allowed out to fly in the garden each day. We were privileged to see Orchid, a beautiful barn owl, flying around us. We were even invited to take the keeper's glove and had Orchid land and sit patiently on the glove for some minutes. A wonderful experience. The keepers were knowledgable and very friendly. Admittedly we visited on a quiet day which may have helped our enjoyment of the owls but would highly recommend the Secret Owl Garden in particular. There is a rather bizzare Spanish themed restaurant but the food was tasty too!
