Stayed 5 nights in this lovely little cottage and will hopefully return as it really does have a great location for some excellent walking. Its also a really nice, comfortable place to stay - extremely quiet, easy parking, good fittings and facilities plus a lovely view from a window seat over the Abbey and woods behind. The washing/drying room was a welcome essential for us as we got soaked twice whilst out walking the hills. We also appreciated that there was lots of hot water, very nice, good quality fluffy towels & linen [better than many hotels] plus a comfy bed. We did a couple of local walks - the Mawddach Trail which was fun and relatively easy as we got the bus back. We also intended to do the horseshoe walk around Cadair Idris but eventually turned back due to low cloud and very heavy rain. We also did a couple of trips up to Snowdonia which was a lovely drive. Certainly worth going to visit the Glaslyn Ospreys en route before they depart for warmer climes - fantastic webcam and viewing facilities! Climbing Snowdon on a BH weekend [even in the rain] was predictably busy but we managed to park and get the bus back up to Pen Y Pass. That said, if we manage to get another long weekend at The Buttery, we'd want to stay more local to Dolgellau to climb Cadair Idris again as the walking was spectacular plus do the Precipice Walk. Overall, a really nice cottage which proved ideal for our needs.
Great location and lovely people. The baby high chair and washing facilities made it a five star for me.
