“Just the job for exploring The Rhins”
Reviewed 28 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

After a later than anticipated arrival due to car trouble, Viv and Martin's welcome and helpful advice was a tonic, as was the clean, neat cottage which was bigger than anticipated.

We spent most of the week's holiday out exploring the beaches, forests, history and the odd "Wicker Man" location site, all with easy reach of the cottage. If we'd been staying a second week I'm sure a trip to NI would have been on the cards too.

Cottage is equipped with everything you need and the beds were warm and comfortable for when all that fresh air caught up with us all.

The quiet seclusion of a country location (great for bat watching or star gazing at night too) and only minutes away from Stranraer for all modern conveniences if you need them.

This is one of our favourite holiday destinations and our first holiday cottage rental certainly helped us to discover more or the area's hidden gems.

“A clean, well equipped little cottage”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Elm cottage is small but clean and well equipped. Four of us were able to stay there comfortably. We were provided with everything we needed to cook simple family meals. The shower was powerful and easy to use.

The cottage provided an ideal base to explore the beautiful surrounding areas. It is close to beaches, parks, many small towns and several family friendly tourist attractions. It is also very close to the port of Cairnryan should you wish to venture further afield

The cottage was everything it said it was and very comfortable. The host was friendly and helpful. We were shown how everything worked and were provided with any help that we needed or requested. We would stay here again, no hesitation.

“A little haven”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

I have just returned from a wonderful week in Elm Cottage. The garden is a sun trap and its location amidst rolling hills is ideal for anyone wanting an escape. It is quiet and safe and a great point from which to explore. Portpatrick, nearby, was an amazing find, especially on the hot day we discovered it. The sunshine was glinting off the water and it looked like a Mediterranean harbour town - but in bonnie Scotland!
The cottage itself was clean, well furnished and equipped. The TV has a great range of channels to choose from too.
My sons loved the playing field. It has a basketball hoop (hurrah!) and a huge area for games and running around. On a personal note I loved the beautiful sunsets on the hills, and being able to look out and see the owners' two horses. They are like a married couple (the horses!) and show some personality if you watch them as closely as I did! The owners are friendly and welcoming, and we were given 'the tour' and any information pertaining to the cottage, on our arrival.
All in all a great cottage in a wonderful setting that I'd have no hesitation in recommending to friends, family and the world!

The cottage was lovely and clean and very well equipped. Very relaxing and cosy. The Kids enjoyed the Sky TV, board games and playcentre. Everything necessary was provided and we enjoyed our stay very much The owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. Elm Cottage is great value for money and we will be booking again for next year!
