Close to Duns town centre which was j just a short walk away Pleasant environment with lots of space . It was nice to be welcomed with tea and homemade short bread . Only there for a couple of days but highly recommended.
We liked the old worldly setting of the place but with all the basic amenities we needed.
The rambly garden complete with hens which provided us with eggs for breakfast was wonderful.
The week was like living in a novel.
Kath was great at making us feel welcome.
We visited the Gardener's Lodging with a two-year-old and a bunch of grown-ups and it was a truly perfect stay. The owners are very kind and understanding people and have obviously made an effort to make their rental cosy and beautiful. The flat was very spacious and the kitchen was our favourite as it had lots of room, a nice dining table and a door to a private garden. The bathroom was impressive too with a nice bath and beautiful country style decor. The living room was again cosy and had lots of interesting books and board games, plus there were toys and books available for my little son. The bedroom was nice and quiet and we all admired the thickness of the walls!
On top of everything, there was a delicious chocolate cake waiting for us when we arrived and there were eggs available to buy that were laid by the owners' chickens - they were really good with super yellow yolks.
All in all, we would highly recommend the gardener's lodging to anybody who appreciates classic country style charm and a cosy stay. We would definitely like to come back!
This consists of various rooms from different parts of a heritage home and outbuildings that go together to make an intimate yet spacious little home with separate kitchen/dining, living and bedrooms. It is beautifully fitted out, with older furniture, but excellent beds. The location is a short stroll from the eating places of Duns, but on the edge of town amongst other heritage and character homes. the cottage faces into large open garden spaces. The hosts are a delightful family with young children who are unseen and unheard from the cottage. Being a heritage building requires a little understanding about not splashing water about, and small stairs etc. Our unfortunate friends had to stay in pubs or much worse value lodgings around Duns.

This is a very comfortable and well equipped property with lots of character and charm. Very convenient location for a short stay while attending a wedding at Wedderburn Castle - and lots of nice touches including flowers and chocolate cake.
