I and my husband, daughter and 2 grandchildren aged 4 and 1 spent 4 nights here. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable for us all.The back garden was very suitable for young children as all enclosed. We were very fortunate with good weather and spent most of the day outdoors. We never left Lochgoilhead as too beautiful to leave.Only small problem I was not aware of was that we should have brought our own towels.Nothing in my e mails told me this. However once I contacted the housekeeper she brought some towels over within 30 mins but cost me 15 pounds.Apart from that loved everything.
Set back just 5 minutes from the village where you will find a local bowls club who are very friendly and welcoming.Little post office with most of your nick nacks and a couple of local pubs, restaurants right on waters edge.Very lovely spot to sit and have a beer.Local boat hire was a great day out at lochgoil cruisers but no fish caught. mayby next time.
7 of us visited plus a small dog on a 7 night break during August, arrival time was 16.00 and cottage was clean upon arrival, fresh bedding, spacious kitchen, 2 clean bathrooms ideal when so many staying, a large lounge with real flame gas fire, good WiFi signal, outside garden is full of birdlife and the view of mountains is stunning from both sides of the property, the garden is also secure for dogs plus table and seating.
We did make contact with the agent as some advertised items namely George foreman grill and toastie maker and mirror were missing and no soaps in the bathrooms and he responded very quickly, this obviously did not spoil our enjoyment of the property.
Plenty of walks locally plus a large holiday park only a few minutes walk away with swimming pool, bar, leisure centre should you want to go also the site has a very well stocked costcutter supermarket open 8-5.30 daily.
Locally you can hire self drive motor boats for up to 8 people for half day £70 we saw seals and porpoises, very worthwhile lots of places to visit within an hour's drive or so, be aware of several miles of single track road together anywhere.
I recommend using Asda for a home delivery of shopping, far easier than carting loads with you.
Would love to come here again just for the remoteness of the place.
We visited Donich Cottage as a family and had a very enjoyable stay. The cottage with 3 bedrooms was perfect for the 5 of us and it had everything you would need for a short break. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
