“Tidy, cosy, affordable and delightful little cottage!”
Reviewed 3 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

A tiny little cottage on the shore (you couldn't be any closer to the water, really) is just what we were wanting for a long weekend exploring the Cowal peninsula. Pier Cottage was great and it had basically everything we needed for an impromptu, low-key get away. It was a little chilly, even with 2 small electric heaters, but it was nothing a few blankets from the car couldn't solve. If you're visiting in the winter months, I'd bring an extra cover just in case.

Liked best: The location and the cosy charm
Liked least: It was perhaps a little cold inside.

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed 9 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Stayed here for a long weekend, stunning views, amazing visit to Ostel Bay (5min) drive away, delicious dinner at The Kames Hotel! Only thing missing was a log burner but overall, was a fabulous stay!
Will definitely return!

“Quiet and Cosy by the beach”
Reviewed 13 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Pier cottage is ideal quiet location right by the water, parking directly outside is limited but you could park at the hotel at top of road if required. Open-plan small and compact, 2 bed sofas and bunk beds, small kitchen, well equipped and separate shower room/toilet. Very clean and nice decor. Left some suggestions for owner such as vanity/shelf or cupboard in shower room and hook on door as no-where to put things apart from towel rail on window sil.
Lots of places to see especially if you have a car, take the trip to Kilbride Bay, you park at Kilbride farm on the road and walk for about 25 mins - its quite flat but was bit muddy as it was raining when we visited. Lovely beach secluded and flat when you get there, was quite eerie the day it was raining as not a soul to be seen. As detailed before the single track roads are quite stressful especially when you dont know them. Kames Hotel food was nice, especially the fish and chips, great portions at a reasonable price. Tighnabruiach was a bit dis-appointing, very quiet and tired place, one shop - the gallery had some lovely stuff but very expensive. However, Lots of gorgeous houses. Burnside Bistro for lunch was bit of a letdown especially after all reports we viewed, the menu in the tearoom looked very good and was also busy, pity we missed this before we ate at bistro. Dont bother visiting Dunoon if you have not been before, road we drove was also single-track for most of the way lovely scenery but like a roller-coaster at times.

Lots of lovely walks around the area would be great at Pier cottage in summer.
