We’d had to take the Braemar route south as the A9 had blocked our journey earlier in the day.

We stopped in the village at about 4.00pm and looked for somewhere to eat opting for The Bothy - a great choice as it turned out. We had a baked spud and a cold drink. The pear and orange in the salad were a delight. Having originally set off from home in Forres at 10.30am and still not left Scotland we were in need of a ‘pick me up’ and this meal certainly did the trick. Many thanks to the pleasant staff (front of house and kitchen). Oh and the views are great too!

My wife & I were meeting someone here for a coffee and we arrived a bit early. We decided to sit outside & have a coffee in the sunshine while we waited. Really nice, friendly staff & great coffee. The Bothy is very nicely decorated inside and has a very welcoming feel. The only point I would make is that from the road walking towards The Bothy it isn't that clear which way The Bothy is, I saw a few people going down into the wee carpark first, a sign need perhaps. Other than that 100%

We had a very nice lunch at The Bothy. We were able to sit on the balcony which the river runs under it. Our sandwiches were delicious. It was nice to sit there and enjoy our glass of wine and listen to the water rushing under us. The service was very good and quick.

The food is good, but find the service awkward. You need to arrive here with a friend to sit at a table whilst the other joins a queue. It is difficult sitting at the only free table to have a procession of people waiting to be served very close by whilst you eat. I witnessed two people complaining that they had queued, but could not find anywhere to sit. Waiting staff could only benefit the good food served here.
