Booked this place because there was not much choice left that day.
On arrival we found a sign at the reception to ask the bar, after waiting there for quite a while we finnally got attention from the gentleman behind the bar. It appeared that he was in charge of everything, could not see any other staff (it was around 8pm).
He handed us the keys and said something like "go up the stairs, it's somewhere there, probably to the right" ... that clearly tells me that he does not really know his place of work.

The room was huge, the TV was big, the shower supplied hot water, that's probably the end of the good-list.
No WiFi signal in room, which is pretty much a no-go for such a big place.
The whole place looks a bit run down, appears to be another one of these formerly great hotels, now sold to a budget chain because it needs a big refurb to become great again. Instead, the new owners pimped it up with some paint and a few essential fixes to fill it with coach parties.
The pictures do look better than it is, but not bad for a night or two. The room rates reflecting the state of the property, so no complaints on that, but they asking a whopping £10.95 per head for breakfast. We decided to get that elsewhere as the Mrs. only takes a bite of toast and a cup of tea in the morning.
Parking in front is very limited and no access from the rear (only an emergency exit),
so be prepared to carry your bags for a walk around the property.
Can't say anything about dinner as we had that elsewhere.
Would certainly stay again, because value for money is acceptable and once asleep the appearance of the place is not exactly important anymore ....

The hotel has a couple of well decorated rooms which they have showcased and photographed, do not expect to get one.
Our room was quite poor, bordering on dirty and electrically dangerous we had a smashed wall socket and light switches behind the pillows that turn on if you move in bed, the shower was rank.

On the positive side they staff worked hard and looked after us well (we were a group of 35+), check in was good and efficient, good beers on draft and they managed to fed us all well. The food is best described as pub grub, but it was good pub grub, the waitress couldn’t open a bottle of wine so clearly some training is needed.

The hotel must improve more rooms as the pictures are misleading and false advertising, take this into account before you part with your cash.

Booked for an evening meal as visiting Braemar. Ordered our meal but when we tried to order drinks with our meal the waitress got stressed and left without an explanation. Pasta starter was cold and soggy. Smoked salmon starter looked as if it had been out of the fridge too long. Fish pie main was still frozen in the middle. Sea bass fillet dried out and crushed potatoes burnt and discolored. Cajun green beans appeared to have come from a freezer in Iceland and certainly never been to Louisiana. The staff acted as if people complaining about their meal was an everyday occurrence. Left without paying. Bought a cut price sandwich and ate it on the park bench instead. Cheaper tastier and safer.

Perhaps they simply complain for the sake of complaining when the real situation is so very different. Ok this is not a five star but the staff value their guests and deliver a high level of customer service, indeed met friends there who were repeat customers.
The food is as it is described and provides considerable variety...again not gourmet but totally acceptable served by an international team of trained staff...value for money quite definitely

Although the exterior of this hotel looks like the photos in advertisements, that’s where similarities end. The rooms are absolute dumps and freezing! Apparently the heaters are on timers so rooms will warm up later tonight!! When I brought the difference between photos of rooms on internet compared to actual rooms, to the reception staff, we were told “we’re not responsible for the photos!”
