From the minute we walked through the door, we all knew that this was going to be a special holiday. The view across the bay is unbeatable, especially for nature lovers like us.
We would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in getting away and relaxing, or seeing an abundance of wildlife.
It's a perfect location for getting to the Cuillins or visiting nearby Portree and Dunvegan, but be warned, the views are so good you may not want to leave the comfort of your armchair.
We shall return.

“Peaceful with Amazing Views”

My wife, two sons (22 and 18) and I stayed for a week and were pleased to find that the property was exactly as described and shown in the photo's. One of the previous reviews mentions sitting watching the tide come and go, now I know what they meant, Skye is a wonderful island but it truly was hard to drive away each day from the house, the views are amazing. We have been fortunate enough to have rented various houses in the past but have never felt so much “at home”. We were fortunate to see various wildlife while at the house, the highlight being a fleeting glimpse of an otter running down the beach before disappearing. The Wi-Fi speed was good, allowing our two sons to stay in touch with friends. The house is well equipped and had everything we required. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Skye.

Based on description and ratings expectations were high. But from the first moment till now back home we were incredibly happy with that cottage: Stunning location in a wonderful bay with fantastic views, plenty of space, a kitchen that you really enjoy because of more than standard equipment, lots of books and a folder with suggestions for hikes. Struan is a good base for discovering Skye when you've got a car, as all highlights can be reached easily (Cuilins, Portree, Quiraing, Dunvegan etc.). Definitely THE place to stay on Skye!

“We just loved it here”

Four of us (2 couples) stayed here for a week and we couldn't have asked for more from our holiday.
The cottage has a fantastic location - the views around the cottage are superb and are forever changing due to the weather.
There always seemed to be some wildlife to watch - either cows and sheep who are regularly grazing on the fields surrounding the cottage or the birds constantly flying around or swimming in the water. We saw a seal one evening and there was a heron that was regularly on the search for food by the water's edge.
We cooked and ate in the cottage every evening - it is well equipped if you wish to do this and there is a great little food shop in Dunvegan. Otherwise, there are Co-op supermarkets in both Portree and Broadford which had everything we could possibly want or need.
The 2 bedrooms are at either end of the property with the open-plan living area in the middle so each couple felt that they had plenty of space to themselves.
We had several meals out at lunchtime - we would recommend the Ellishadder Art Cafe, which is just off the A855 Portree to Staffin Road near to Kilt Rock, and The Old Inn at Carbost.
We bought a cooked lobster and several varieties of smoked fish at The Oyster Shed, also in Carbost for our dinner one night - all delicious.
One of our highlights was having lunch at The Three Chimneys, which was absolutely excellent.
Although the cottage is located right on the west coast, we never felt that we were staying too far away from anywhere that we wanted to visit - anyway, we enjoyed all our drives around the island as there are so many beautiful views to enjoy.
We would definitely stay at this cottage again when we next have a holiday on Skye.

“Ideal holiday base for peace, relaxation and fabulous views”

We thought that the cottage was in a perfect place as a base for exploring on foot (the nearby coastline) and by car for visiting Skye and all its attractions, particularly Sligachan and the Cuillins. The hotel at Sligachan served good food. We enjoyed meals at The Old schoolhouse at Dunvegan and the Inn at Stein. The cottage was great and had everything we needed for our stay, including a dishwasher, washing machine and Wi-Fi. Best of all was the location and views. Thanks for a great holiday!
