We found the hotel very pleasant. Our travel agent had booked it and with having no car it was quite a distance from Portree and taxis were very scarce. We waited over an hour for a taxi in the town square. The reception staff were very friendly. The room was pleasant but not particularly spacious. The restaurant food was good but I found food and drinks to be expensive. When you are staying a few days it would be nice to have access to more casual dining. Used the laundry service and some clothing was returned with marks on them.

We booked a last minute reservation when we decided to come to Skye a day early. Happy to say we found Skeabost Hotel. Overall, decent value considering some of the prices and availability we have seen here. We would stay here again.

+very nice receptionists and service
+clean room and bathroom with London’s White Company products, cozy bed in a small room with limited natural light, tea/coffee/shortbread/1 bottle of water in room per usual
+breakfast included (menu to order, fruit salad, croissants, cheese/meats, etc.); they also have a restaurant/bar onsite although we didn’t try it
+parking onsite
+pretty location in the northern central area of Skye, but it is fairly remote and is a 10-15 min drive from central Portree where many restaurants are; this could be a plus depending on where you plan to visit on the island (e.g., Neist Point lighthouse)
-some noise from other guests (and their dog)

We have eaten at the Skeabost several times and it never disappoints. The conservatory is a very pleasant dining area, light and airy in summer with views across the loch - quite atmospheric on a dark winter night. The staff are always helpful and friendly whilst remaining professional. The food is well prepared and presented and invariably delicious. It is not the cheapest option around and this is reflected in the extensive and interesting wine list. However, for a special night out this is high on our list of favourite restaurants. My husband and I were touring many of the islands over a two week period and thought we would treat ourselves to a bit of luxury, out of all the hotels ( much cheaper ones) this was the smallest room with a view looking into a wall of the hotel with what looked like an air conditioning unit. The hotel was not fully booked and had empty rooms so not sure why they felt the need to put us into one of their worst rooms. The room was nicely decorated and bathroom was a nice size. Staff were friendly and food was very good. Drinks were extremely overpriced. We would not go back as was just not worth the expensive costs.

We stayed in 12 different hotels on 12 different nights touring Skye and the Outer Hebrides. Skeabost was the most expensive of these and gave the worst experience. One of our rooms smelled of drains (this had apparently been a problem before) and our 'bathrooms' were really no more than a small cubicle and were not clean. No view. We did ask to move rooms but the hotel was full so they didn't charge us for dinner, Dinner and breakfast were good. But we would have swapped all this for 2 nice clean rooms with a decent bathroom. We would not stay there again.

Room Tip: It's a quiet location on the edge of a sea loch, but bizarrely few or none of the rooms have a view of the loch
