Fantastic boutique hotel on Skye. Recently renovated (& soon to be expanded) this hotel is comfortable, clean and welcoming. Staff and service is faultless. Food—breakfast and dinner—is first class. A terrific base for your visit to the delights of Skye.

Room - I thought the room was very cute. It was a good size, and although the windows weren't very big it actually let in a lot of light (it helped that we were in room 9, which was on the corner so we had 3 windows!). Furnishing were very well done, and the bed was comfortable. Outlet and USB chargers were available (yay!)

Bathroom - The bathroom was also well decorated however I had a couple issues with it. The first is that the floor in the shower seemed dirty. The white had turned a yellow/brown color and needs a thorough cleaning or to be replaced. Also the bathroom was quite cold, particularly the tiles. I couldn't bear to walk in there without socks or something on my feet. Good size though, with plenty of room to move around.

We didn't eat dinner at the restaurant because unfortunately they did not have many vegetarian options available. We did eat breakfast there in the morning however, and found the staff to be very attentive and everything tasted great.

Parking was provided (although it was a little unclear where Marmalade's parking ended so we ended up having to move our car once as we were in the wrong spot.

Location - so for us this location worked out well, however the hotel is a little bit off of the downtown area. It was probably a 10 minute walk downtown (down a hill), which we were willing to trade off for the parking, however not everyone might want to do that especially if it's raining or cold.

Room - 4/5
Bathroom -3.5/5
Restaurant - 4/5
Parking - 4/5
Location - 4/5

Room tip: Room 9 was a nice room on the corner

Amazing hotel with paid attention to every little detail. The room was clean, very convinient, with comfortable bed, and modern bathroom/shower. Staff is welcoming and super nice!

Also the breakfast was very good :)

Thank you, the Marmalade team, for an awesome stay!

I stayed with my family in Portree in the West Highlands in August 2018. We chose the Marmalde Hotel because of the good ratings and I must say it is by far the best Hotel in Portree. I say that because when you come to Portree and you see the old houses and Hotels you must be extra careful and chose a new or newly renovated Hotel. This Hotel was newly renovated and the hotel rooms are perfect ! The View , the gardens, the staff - everything excellent .
Another big advantage is that, even though you have to walk 5 minutes to the village, you have excellent parking which you DO NOT have in the village . So be careful.
Also check out their excellent restaurant !!!

I can only recommend this hotel for Portree

Loved this place. Every detail was spot on - elegant dining - lovely people - great accommodations. Up the hill from town so keep it in mind if you like to walk. It’s a short walk and easy downhill, but uphill is not as easy when returning.
Ask for Susan at the front desk - she’s so warm to every guest you’ll think you were friends for years. Very enjoyable, quiet, relaxing hotel.
