Just Brilliant!
Well worth the long drive.
Beautiful views, lovely house, very well appointed.
Kids and grandparents appreciated the comfort and peaceful surroundings.
We will be back.

Just returned from a week at this wonderful cottage. The spec of the place is first class, with nothing missing for a week of lounging around or a week of outdoor activities.
Great location for the Three Chimneys - a minutes walk away and some good local walks - Coral Beach, Neist Point. Went with two young kids, who made full use of the broadband Wi-Fi due to the inclement weather.

The only fault with staying at Rhundunan is that, eventually, you have to leave! Super house, modern, clean, comfortable, yet built in traditional style so somehow you don't feel like a 'tourist'.
The location is exceptional: spectacular views across Loch Dunvegan with the mountains of Harris in the background, an internationally-known restaurant about one hundred yards away and easy access to the northern parts of Skye - the best bits in my view - with Dunvegan village about 4 miles away, where there's a village store, the Old Schoolhouse restaurant (very good) and I can honestly say the best patisserie I have ever been in this side of Paris; not to be confused with the little bakery, claiming to be the oldest in Skye or some such nonsense, but which had no bread at all by 1.30pm.
We were lucky with the weather - six straight days of sunshine. Now, I've been to Skye a few times and this is not always the case. Whatever the weather, Rhundunan is a super spot to unwind with a book and perhaps a glass.

We were here first week of June. Weather OK, with three wonderful days of sunshine. Our base was this magnificent, well-appointed house in Colbost, just above the Three Chimneys restaurant and the Colbost Museum. As a location, it was stunning with views across to the Coral Beach, Harris, the Cuillins and Macleod's Tables. Quiet, perfect, no complaints whatsoever. Neist Point and the amazing sunsets are a few minutes away. You need a car to be based here, but it is worth the effort to get here. No 1 on Trip Adviser for a reason.
We were here for the first week in May and found it wonderful from the get-go. Rhundunan is built to very high standards. The windows are extremely well engineered and the house is well-insulated, making the place cosy on blustery days.A very well stocked kitchen wih all the appliances one needs (although the 3 Chimneys makes it tempting to eat out! As a centre for travelling, Colbost is very convenient - we found the roads, although single track, were quite navigable (and for Canadians, used to travelling in the right-hand lane, the only challenge was to decide which side of the road to pull into at the passing places!).
Of course the 3 Chimneys is a big drawing card and the menus, particularly the "Taste of Skye" menu was outstanding, we ate there 3 evening and it did not disappoint. We would recommend the boat trip from the caste at Dunvegan, perhaps more than the seal-watching trip, we saw a magnificent sea eagle, guillemots, the heronry, and great northern and red-throated divers, and our guide was very knowledgeable. We also visited Talisker, and close by, the Oyster Shed (yum!), the falls of Glenbrittle, Neist Point lighthouse, and Storrs, with a trip across to Uig via Quirang, with its breathtaking scenery..
It's a magical place, we were entranced by Skye and Rhundunan was the perfect place to be in Skye. We hope that we can return again soon.
