We were scheduled for one night in the Royal however due to ferry cancellations we ended up with a second night. The reception staff were very understanding & arranged the second night easily. The Location of the Hotel is excellent on the waterfront with Bars & Restaurants nearby. Both nights we had excellent meals in the Boat Shed Restaurant attached to the Hotel. Only complaint was that our room was very small & the En Suite was more like a cupboard than a bathroom.

Right on the waterside and overlooking Lews castle, this is probably one of the nicer hotels in Stornoway by location. Food was fine without being startling. Seafood Platter was excellent value and contained nice variety of fish/shellfish. Overall quite reasonable value.

Very comfortable hotel. Good food available in the restaurant but it was very busy and therefore noisy.
No lift but help is available to get suitcases upstairs. Good choice of food at breakfast, freshly cooked.

This is an old established hotel in the classic style, well appointed in the centre of Stornaway. Our room was of a good size and comfortable with a wardrobe, tv, desk and armchairs and with furnishings which would originally have been very plush. The bathroom was clean and modern. The hotel reception staff were polite. One lady was rather supercilious. A smile and friendly attitude would have made a difference to our welcome. The hotel has two dining rooms: one is up market serving top quality food. Reservation in there was essential in August. The other is less expensive, serving wholesome meals and it was equally popular at that time of the year. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in on the Outer Hebrides and it is resting on its laurels.

We stayed for a couple of nights early September 2018. Rooms comfortable with a great view of the harbour and Lews Castle. Staff helpful and positive. Dinner menu was varied and of high standard both nights. Only draw back was parking a bit limited.
