Catriona, the owner was great with communicating all the important details about the house- location, how to enter, what she expected us to find on arrival and how she wished for us to leave it upon departure. The house is well located near several great sites and we enjoyed meeting some of the neighbors while on some short walks.
The house itself has a dated feeling to it- much of the architecture in the area seems to have a similar style. In the house everything worked fine and it was suitable for our needs. The fire place was a bonus. However the beds were not very comfortable and there was a certain amount of mustiness that did mostly dissipate once we aired out the place. It felt a bit like staying at 'grandma's house.'
I have visited this house before and always want to return. The house is amazingly situated and very comfortable. As a Croft house it retains a unique atmosphere of its working and living past whilst providing all the modern comfort individuals or groups need. The owner knows the whole history of this family home and its setting which adds to the ambiance of the house and will ensure visitors have the best possible stay on beautiful Lewis. I love it and will certainly return again and again.
We stayed here for a week during the Easter holidays. In a beautiful location and the house was just perfect for our family of four (two young children). The house is very comfortable and sitting down in the evening by the open fire after a busy day visiting all the beautiful sights in the local area was so relaxing. The owner was very helpful and great to deal with. Can't wait for our next trip back to this wonderful community.
The house sits in the village of Garenin on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis and is perfectly located for the Standing Stones of Callanish, the Black House village, the Harris Woolen Mill, brochs and beaches. The house is lovely, has everything you need and easily sleeps six people. After hikes and visits through the day we snuggled up next to the fireplace, sipping whisky and playing cards. Our stay was all too short. If you looking for somewhere in Lewis within easy reach of Stornoway and all the lovely places in this magical place, look no further
The location js excellent, close to the beach and the Black House village.
The bungalow is well appointed with plenty of maps, books ,etc., in fact all that you would need. Within easy reach of many attractions including the Harris Tweed Mill which provides an excellent guided tour. We travelled all around Lewis and Harris but need to return to see more.
