I stayed at this property for 3 nights with my husband and 2 small children (1 and 3 years old). We had an unbelievable time here! It was probably the highlight of our 2 week Ireland and Scotland vacation. The property itself is gorgeous and had everything we needed! We enjoyed the fire every night and appreciated that they had set up the gate around it so that our little ones didn't get too close. Our children especially enjoyed the music selection, and loved running around in the yard and watching the sheep. This location is simply stunning - the pictures definitely don't do it justice! It was close enough to Stornoway (about 40 minutes) where we didn't have a super long drive after our ferry ride, but far away enough where we really got to experience the natural beauty of the island. Val and Calum were extremely welcoming and warm and took the time to walk us through the property and make sure we had everything we needed. They provided us with a crib - which was extremely helpful and appreciated - and they set up the bedroom for our 3 year old perfectly. They had a beautiful spread of welcome pastries and treats and had some really excellent suggestions for us. Our only regret was that we were so busy enjoying Harris and Lewis that we didn't see Val and Calum again to thank them. I could go on an on about this rental! Our stay here was truly unforgettable and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to Lewis and Harris. Our children made some amazing memories here and we really hope we'll get back some day!

Our fourth visit to An Taigh Clach, our daughter joined us this time. The tranquillity, peace and wonderful scenery we just love. So much to see and do, our week passed all to quickly. On arrival a welcoming excellent smooth whiskey, chilled white wine a lovely red wine and home baking, they lasted a couple of days, resistance was futile.
A welcoming and wonderful cottage. Calum, Val and family made our holiday very special.
We will be back.

“Once again - our favorite place!”
Reviewed 22 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Once again - our ideal place to stay. Greeted with a magnificent home baking and this time we brought the paints and spent hours painting the views. Will definitely be back - I don't think the children would allow anything else! Thank you again Valerie and Calum!

“You'll never tire of coming back!”
Reviewed 5 December 2016 for a stay in October 2016

After 6 or 7 visits you may think we would tire of coming back here.... but quite the opposite.
The cottage has that home from home feeling and couple that with the warm welcome from the hosts, the freezer stocked with lamb and the fresh homebaking on the kitchen counter and you've found a holiday rental you'll want to visit again and again!
The cottage is immaculate and well stocked with essentials. The wood burner adds that cosy feel as you sit and take in the breathtaking views.
The islands of Lewis and Harris have so much to offer; so many places to visit, walks, beautiful beaches that, after a stay in this fabulous cottage, you too will be enjoying return visits!

Stayed here for 5 nights in October. From the warm reception by Val and Calum to the lovely home baking and local meats and shellfish the reception at An Taigh Clach was superb. Its a great base from which to explore Lewis with lots to see locally.
This is the best accommodarion in which we have stayed and the kids loved the place. We would happily have stayed for another week and all agree we will be back.

Liked best: Owners attention to detail and warm reception or the quality of the property.
Liked least: Maybe its just me (being well padded) but we found the double bed mattress uncomfortably hard.
