“Great graduation dinner”

My family and I recently ate here as part of my graduation celebration! We were given the graduation menu which was a great deal!! The food was excellent, really delicious! The service was great - the manager (didn't catch name) and our server, Princess, couldn't do enough for us. After dinner, we sat out on the new terrace which was just lovely. Overall an excellent evening!

Went for drinks with friends on the terrace a sunny Saturday afternoon. Plan was to have a few drinks & stay for food. Service was so awful we left without food. 10-15 mins to get a waiter to take a drinks order, a further 10-15 for drinks to arrive (one bottle of prosseco shouldn’t take long to organise!). Exactly the same thing when we tried to order a second drink. Meanwhile waiters wandering round with plates of food the whole time trying to find the right table, must have been stone cold by the time it got to them. Such a shame, place is lovely, fab sun terrace, lots of staff on & behind the bar but they seem to have no idea what they’re doing & service couldn’t be worse. I cancelled our 3rd drink order when it didn’t arrive, manager asked why & I told him, & he said I’d only ordered 10-15 mins ago as if that was a reasonable wait. Clearly very badly organised & must be losing a fortune as a result. You lost out on drinks & dinner for 6.

Very nice glass fenced patio area raised up from the street (that was a real sun-trap) decorated with black wicker furniture. The chicken Caesar salad was freshly made and had some nice touches like sun dried tomatoes. The Royal sharing platter seemed to be very popular with diners around us. The service was quite attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend for a light lunch in the sun watching the world go by.

In many ways this should be a roaring success, packed out each weekend, as it ticks many of the boxes. The restaurant and bar are impressive, with significant investment clearly having been made by the owner. The food is skillfully prepared by a kitchen team who care. The pricing is beyond reasonable, even cheap for the quality.

And yet, the Achilles heel, the service - slow and inattentive doesn’t begin to describe it. On arrival we had to wait several minutes to be shown to our table. Further delays followed to get our order taken and to order drinks and refills - you’ll sell more courses and drinks if you look for your customers trying to order them instead of chatting among yourselves. The staff were very pleasant in all of their dealings but clearly in need of training and leadership from the management team.

Sadly not an isolated case as this was the third and probably final time we’ve tried the place. A consistent outcome each time and yet so easy to resolve.
