“The best SEAFOOD ever.”

SALT Seafood Kitchen

Based on previous Trip Advisor reviews we booked to eat at Salt 3 times during our recent 8 day stay in the area. We were not disappointed. The menu changes every night depending on what has been caught that day. The three of us had different things ranging from the seafood platter, smoked salmon, muscles and scallops which for me were the crowning glory. It was honestly the best seafood I have ever tasted. Simply cooked but the freshest and tastiest ever. Delightful staff, but do book as we saw people being turned away each night and BYOB. An added bonus is one of the best coastal views ever over the Summer Isles, and a very good chance of spotting a deer on the way home.

Local friend recommended a visit to Salt. We were not disappointed. The welcome, the food and the views were wonderful. It specialises in fresh local seafood and fish. You need to book in advance and BYOB. It’s off the beaten track but worth the effort of getting there. Parking available.

Firstly, the views are spectacular and make for a very pleasant setting. The menu is rather limited by some standards, but offers enough variety for most people. The emphasis is upon quality local produce, served in a relaxed setting with friendly staff. We had the Spinneys and Langoustines for starters, which were great finger food and notably fresher than other restaurants we had tried. For mains we had the Lobster Mac (aronie cheese) and Salmon Burger, both of which were very pleasant. The desserts were also excellent - the salted caramel brownie and creme brulee are both worth trying!

For the price, we felt it offered good value. It's not a al carte dining, but it is wholesome food, in a picturesque setting, served by friendly local staff. Definitely recommended, we would return again - just make sure you book in advance as they had to turn people away while we were dining.

Well, well, well, what a wonderful find in a remote spot on Scotland's West Coast.

Let's start with the building. It's about as simple and cozy. The kitchen, which is tiny and right next to the dining area, is fitted out with pretty basic cooking equipment but don't let this fool you. The food that the chef and owner creates in this space is about as good as it gets!

Next, the views. They're breathtaking. You can see right across the bay, out to the Summer Isles. Views don't get much better.

Then, the service. Fabulous. You are well looked after.

Finally, the food. I've already touched on it. One word. Brilliant. If you love seafood, you'll adore this place. You won't find much fresher or better anywhere in the world (and I've eaten in many places around the world). The food is local and mouth watering.

We drove a couple of hours to eat here and it was well worth it.

Salt Seafood Kitchen is a hidden gem of a place. I can't recommend it enough.

Bon Apetite.
