We all loved our short break. By we I mean my Husband, my dog and me. We had time to spend together without interruption in peace and tranquillity.
The cottage had home comforts that we didn’t expect such as a good selection of DVDs and was very comfortable and clean.
The owner was very helpful without being intrusive and their own dog was also friendly.
Whilst there we had the wood stove burning which made it really cosy. We also had the option to have a camp fire or barbecue in the garden.
Talking about the garden our dog felt at home within an hour of getting there and soon started guarding as if it were her own (see pic). She also enjoyed walks to the shore of Loch Ness which was only 5 minutes walk away.
I can’t comment on local pubs as we didn’t use them, but we were reliably informed that there was one within walking distance that was happy to accept well behaved dogs accompanying owners.
To be honest we didn’t want to leave as it made us realise how much we love to spend time together.
We would definitely return if we get the opportunity.
An oasis of peace in a mad world.... beautiful!!
The cottage is great, very clean and comfortable. If you want to just switch off and relax you can, taking in the beautiful scenery outside the garden windows, and literally at one with nature with wild deer and pheasants frequently visiting the land/gardens of the property and near by.
Owners are very friendly and welcoming. Information shared before arrival and directions etc were spot on and very much appreciated.
Lots of walking based activities short drives away and plenty of open space to walk our doggies in.
Would recommend the cottage to all.
Had a great 5 days at the wee cottage..The cottage itself was very clean and cosy and has everything you need..there is many great walks that start from the doorway of the cottage..I myself like fishing its just a five minute walk to the shores of lochness..and the river foyers is at the bottom of the back garden..We have already booked for next year we enjoyed it that much..Garry and Debbie are great hosts and we look forward to seeing them on our next holiday..
Owners: The owners are lovely, sweet people and are part of the charm of this lovely little cottage - they sent us a little text when a deer went to feed in the garden and were so helpful and friendly.
Location: the cottage is completely secluded, situated at the top of the gorge, so you're surrounded by trees, trees and more trees! Over the side of the gorge, you'll see the very pretty Foyers bubbling away. Sitting in the garden, all you'll hear is birdsong, the rustle of the beech trees, and the river flowing past. We sat for hours talking, reading and resting - and recuperating! That said you're only ten minutes from the village and a half hour walk from the stores (or five minutes in the car).
The cottage: spotlessly clean and the owners had thought of everything from teabags to information leaflets of what to do in the area. It's very snug and cosy with a tiny living room (we loved the kitchen because of all of the natural light and the views of the garden) and a really comfortable bed. The shower had brilliant water pressure too.
The area: we used Foyers as a base to do some sailing and walking - you're spoilt for choice! We visited Urquhart Castle, sailed down Loch Ness and of course visited the Falls of Foyers themselves - very pretty and not to be missed. We also visited Fort Augustus and did some walking around Loch Knockin.
All in all, the most perfect break for a couple, or if you're a sole traveller - book this lovely little hideaway, you'll have the loveliest, loveliest time.
Me and my partner have just come back from a fabulous 4 night stay. Beautiful surroundings and a magnificent cottage. I really couldn’t praise our stay or the wonderful owners enough. I am de stressed and ready to face the rat race once again. This was our second stay here and it won’t be our last. Thank you so much Garry and Debbie for having us again.
