Yet another great beach in the Durness area. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best along with the second beach at Balnakiel Bay. There are a couple of parking areas above the beach and a steady walk down the steps and across the short dunes lead you to the beach. Dog friendly. Always seems quieter than Sango Sands which are further back towards Durness. The Zip Wire across the beach has certainly divided opinion, both locally and with tourists. I am not impressed (despite being a fan of such thrills), it takes something away from the beauty of the place. 5/5 for the beach and surroundings. 0/5 for the wire

This is a surprise beach just off the road, with turquoise water. The granite squared rocks are by themselves interesting from a geological point of view.

Ugh. Someone has strung a wire across the beach and is operating a zipline there now. So much for pristine... What next, a roller coater at Balnakeil? A motocross park at Sandwood?

Absolutely stunning beach, visited here on the way from Bettyhill to Durness, if you're driving the same way you'll pass Tongue and Loch Eriboll, beautiful part of the world, we'll definitely be back!
