We stayed in this cottage with our 9 month old daughter for a weekend in July. The cottage was idyllic; lots of charm and character. The kitchen was really well equipped. Fresh eggs, herbs and strawberries were left by the owner to welcome us on our arrival. The garden was stunning and we were fortunate enough to have the weather to enjoy it. We could not recommend this place more!

“WOW - is the best way to describe this romantic little hideaway”

We arrived at Strathview Cottage to be met by the owner Norman clutching a box of fresh farm eggs to add to the lovely welcome pack of mediteranean bread, shortbread, milk, orange juice, teabags etc that he had left for us. From the minute we stepped into the amazing garden we were entranced - Norman has certainly created an ambience that would enchant the fairies - every little nook and cranny of the garden is lovely,so much to see and take in - and all around in the cottage he had left little bunches of pretty flowers gathered from the riches he had planted there. The cottage itself is a mix of olde worlde charm with just enough modern touches to make it so comfy and cosy, the log burning stove would be such a treat in colder weather and there is also central heating but it was too warm to need it (lucky for us as we were able to have the patio doors leading from the lounge open and eat outside at the table in the garden - breakfast in that amazing setting was such a treat!), he has kept a lot of the original features (like the belfast sink in the kitchen and the roll top bath in the bathroom) and the furnishings are brilliant - the bed was massive and oh so comfy (a big worry for us as many a holiday has been ruined by having to sleep on a rock hard mattress!). I cooked a full dinner for my hubby and I in the little kitchen on the Friday night and there was everything and more than I needed to do that. Saturday night we went into Auchterarder to eat but were sorely disappointed in our choice - we went to the Glendevon Hotel in the village, staff were lovely but the food was dire and hubby was up most of the night unwell;0( That didnt spoil our wee break though - the perfect romantic getaway and everything thought of to make our stay extra special - Norman even texted the first evening to make sure we had settled in and had everything we needed and then again on the morning we were leaving to check again that all had been well and to tell us we didnt need to rush away. Verdice - a little piece of heaven, perfect for couples wanting a lovely quiet wee break in beautiful surroundings. We will definitely be back soon - thank you to a lovely man for sharing your cottage with us xx

Liked best: Hard to choose - the garden and the comfy bed I would say.
Liked least: No internet access at this spot but I did have my 3G phone so was able to work on it so no problem ;0)
