What a lovely, immaculate, and comfortable house this was! The Antrim coast is glorious countryside, and this residence, built up from the stone ruins of a former barn and situated on the grounds of a B&B, is an ideal base from which to explore it. So much is within driving distance: castles, forest parks, the famed glens, beautiful villages, beaches, waterfalls, bustling Belfast, and a quite stunning museum devoted to the life and work of Seamus Heaney. (We ventured south to Co. Down, as well, home to several excellent sites.) The generous hosts, Johnny and Dee, could not have been friendlier or more helpful, and the welcome basket included decadent homemade brownies and raspberry jam, among other treats. Indeed, the kitchen was spacious and well-stocked, and after long days of sightseeing, we were able to cook excellent meals, sourcing ingredients from specialty markets and mobile fishmongers (to say nothing of the many herbs in the garden). We were reluctant to leave and hope one day to return.
Beautiful barn , beautiful location and beautiful people . My daughter got married at the bottom of the road at bally gally castle . The whole week was perfect from start to finish and I can’t thank Johnny and Dee enough for making us feel so welcome ! And the welcome brownies were to die for xx
Just back from a wonderful long weekend stay. The Barn is exceptional. Beautifully renovated, cosy with everything and more you need. Hosts Johnny and Dee are so welcoming. The welcome hamper is super with home made jam and delicious brownies. Johnny and Dee have created a wonderful holiday home looking over the fields to the coast road. Would highly recommend this for families or couples.
Set in a country location, with stunning views of the sea, if you want to relax, yet are only an hour away from major attractions this is the place for you!! The house and gardens are immaculately presented, and the welcome pack has to be seen to be believed. Johnny and Dee have thought of everything to make this a home from home, and the beds are so comfy, you are ensured of a good nights sleep. Johnny has a wealth of knowledge about the area, and is happy to point out the hidden attractions. This is a holiday home that I will definitely book again, and have recommended to my friends and family
This was our first visit to Ireland and we shall certainly be back. We visted with our twin 13 yr old daughters for a relaxing holiday and that's what we got. We cannot fault this beautiful cottage which feels like home the minute you enter. It's comfortable, clean and very well equipped in every possible way. There are so many thoughtful touches to this place from the welcome pack, including cornflakes, home made bread, jam and brownies, board games( which the girls loved), binoculars and plenty of books to read but the list is endless.
Johnny and Dee are friendly and welcoming and you immediately get the feeling that nothing is too much trouble. It's tranquil and relaxing appearing in the middle of nowhere ( just what we wanted) yet only a few minutes drive to the local pub, shop and coast rd. Our stay was short on this occasion but we plan to return to spend more time exploring this beautiful part of the country and will definitely stay here again.
Could not find fault in this whole experience!
