We'd been out for the day while on holiday in Dorset and we were looking for a decent pub, with good food and a beer garden, as it was a warm day.
We chose The Kings, because it had good reviews, however, to be frank, it was pretty disappointing.
We were directed to the rear garden, where we had a couple of drinks. We waited a while because they weren't ready to serve.
I ordered a "Homemade Macaroni Cheese" (as stated on the menu) with garlic bread and I can honestly say that it's the WORST mac cheese I've ever had the misfortune to taste. I eat out a lot and I enjoy cooking at home and THIS was NOT what I would expect of food from a pub that has been named "Pub of the Year!" It was absolutely swimming in grease( butter,) and I'm afraid to say I left most of it. I didn't send it back because I'd waited over an hour for my meal and I was hungry. I can't honestly remember what my partner ordered. I'm afraid we paid and left quickly and we won't return.
I have to add that the staff were friendly enough, but the pub itself seems "tired" and a bit grubby. Not a great experience.
